A Patron… But Not the Good Kind
Chapter: Season Ten
Lee is a character with deep Father issues, a failure to launch, and a need to “protect” his little brother from the remorseful path he has walked (and suffered). His emotional wounds run very deep. More will come to light as this final arc continues.
As Sam Jackson once said, “hold onto your butts!”
Wait.. i think the two brutes may have been Mel and Grey… https://d20monkey.com/comic/the-signing-conclusion and this Patron sowing seeds of doubt possibly be the return of Klaus Kringle?https://d20monkey.com/comic/klaus-kringle/
Looking great as usual Brian – All going to end in a helluva Bang
I think it’s Clive. Klaus would have the accent, yeah?
I think it is a new player. The same mysterious stranger that summoned and powered up Clive, and was frozen in the ice. The energy colour is the same.
I think I got some of it right back on the 27th… Lee and Dove are enacting phase 2. Knicholas said he thought it was Clive and again, here’s the pink/fuchsia glow. Looking forward to seeing if I got the rest right… the other mantle bearers are under attack and it’s time for Sam to wield the Narrative (that he never really lost) to save them.
Someone will have to refresh my memory, but how much does Trevor actually know about the situations with Clive and/or Klaus? Enough to recognize one of them on sight, as he does here? It’s been a while and I don’t remember how involved he was with those events.
Klaus, definitely. Here’s where they met in season one: https://d20monkey.com/comic/klaus-kringle/
and again in season two: https://d20monkey.com/comic/usurper/
Clive met “something” that gave him power here… https://d20monkey.com/comic/elsewhere-part-one/
And then murdered the Easter Bunny here… https://d20monkey.com/comic/christmas-2015-epilogue-part-one/
I can’t find any occasion where Trevor met Clive but he Brett may have described Clive to him.
Ah, perfect, these are exactly the citations I needed to put all of this into the appropriate context. Thank you.
This actually explains the weird change in Lee’s behaviour towards Sam. Lee was there to help during the first Christmas special. It was only later that he was “successful”. So clearly-it looks like a Quid Pro Quo from whatever is controlling Clive.
So the complaints that Lee’s villainhood came out of nowhere come down to this-Lee made a deal with the evil-spirited-away-toxic-river-spirit.
Could the two brutes be Mel and Grey (Mel still hanging with Grey and got stuck in a situation…) and this new pink glow could be that of Klaus Kringle?
Klaus isn’t the biggest threat at the moment, though. It’s Clive we haven’t heard from.
I kind of assumed Mel and Grey split permanently after she called the cops and then later moved to NY. I guess anything’s possible though.
Me’s also never previously been actively hostile to the group, so far as I can tell.
Wasn’t Grey arrested by a certain motorcycle cop somewhere before or after it came out that he was into guys and mel was covering for him?
My money’s on Dove, Grey, Mel, and maybe Donnie having been monsterized. Mel’s the one wrecking Jeannie’s shit right now, Grey is mace-hands, dunno about Donnie, and Dove is behind Trev in some sort of monster-form. Higgins is where they got the power, of course. He wants Brett dead for getting him the boot from his job. I also think we’re going to see the King of Seasons in action on Earth by the end of this.
Wait… when was the last time we saw Mel?
This was supposed to be a reply to Druke.
yeah, the comment board was acting strange and thought my original comment didn’t’ get added…
Guys why are we getting worked up about Klaus all of a sudden instead of Clive/Higgins?
Come on Throdicous
ooo, good memory! 😉
Save vs. his godly wang!
This isn’t the Boss fight, and Clive isn’t the boss; this is the fight that shows them they need to go on a real-live dungeon crawl to deal with who/whatever gave Clive the power five years ago…
I do love the purple light reflected in Trevor’s eyes. If I can only magnify it enough…
I’m going with Clive… Least we forget this MASSIVE cliff hanger from way back in 2015! https://d20monkey.com/comic/elsewhere-part-three/
OH man forgot about him
Lee, you are an idiot.
You are not protecting your brother. You are standing by as he is possibly getting severely injured.
Trevor, if you survive meeting Lee’s patron, be sure to pin the blame for the ‘bomb’ that destroyed The Dragon’s Den firmly on Lee. (simplest cover story for ‘monsters destroyed store’)
Good, Trevor honestly deserves a little turnaround. How else did he think this was gonna end?
with immoral hanky panky. not with his friends in mortal danger. he had no reason to believe lee was gonna get his brother killed til tonight.
“The road to Hell is paved with good intentions …”
Oh, Lee, you poor sad sorry FOOL …
i mean clearly thats dove but whats w the pink glow?
Yep, called it. “It wasn’t supposed to be like this.”
I don’t think it is Dove. He played the snivelling lackey too well in this arc from here to here to be the patron.
Hello…. Dave…
i think i found the brutes – kundrok of the forgeborn season 4

I think you’re right. So I’m going to toss this theory out there… those critters are from a fantasy world, not just any fantasy world, but Sam’s… Karthun. And there’s one notable person who has experience with these critters in Karthun who isn’t part of the current group but has rejoined the comic very recently AND expressed a grudge. Mel.
So here’s my theory… Mel’s a GM and has access to the Narrative and has brought these creatures in with Clive’s assistance.
anyone else feel an empty pit open in their stomach as they realize this wonderful piece of art is coming to an end?
Aug 3: Commentors: If Lee is somehow behind this, we will never forgive him.
Aug 5: Commentors: Lee was actually trying to help, but got manipulated by Clive. Not his fault.
Still think Lee needs a punching. But maybe JUST punching.
