Christmas: Part Eleven
Chapter: Season Three
That’s right, he ripped them right off.
I have a 2012 Year in Review blog post for later this week. It was a good year and I’d love to talk about that and some new things coming up in 2013.
On the gaming side of things: I am starting up a new Pathfinder campaign and I’m pretty damn excited about it. I’ll be running a Core Rulebook-only campaign that makes use of the Anniversary edition of the Rise of the Runelords adventure path. The players are excited as well and I am giving serious thought to adding a new page to the site for an ongoing campaign journal.
Is that something you would be into? Let me know.
As a parent of two kids under 3 years old, I love gaming vicariously through the stories of other gamers’ games.
My group just started Rise of the Runelords last month. I’d love to see an ongoing campaign journal. I’d be interesting to see how two different groups handle the same campaign.
I like to read game summaries…. I would read them if you posted them
Two words to ongoing campaign log…
Yes, please!
Have been running Rise of the Runelords for the past few months with my group–first with the original printings and now with the updated version. My one bit of non-spoilering advice: read the details of the whole campaign really closely before you start to play.
My only beef with the campaign is that (moreso in the original version) the line between “Here’s some big picture behind-the-scenes details of what you’re looking at” and “Here’s stuff you should be telling the players about” is pretty blurry. In the first installment, in particular, I remember reading big, big, big chunks of story background that really should have ended with “Of course, your players won’t know or understand ANY OF THIS this until three-quarters through the campaign, but try to get some of the details right now”.
A podcast would be ideal, but I suppose I’d settle for a campaign journal… hopefully with the occasional illustration.
If I can’t game, I want to read about someone else’s game. That’s why I read about fictional gamers on your comic. That and ’cause it’s freakin’ hilarious.
Found your comic a few days ago and just finished reading through the archives. Thank you for fulfilling some of my need for D&D (My group has kinda disbanded). All great stuff and funny as hell. I just hate that now I’ll have to wait for updates. 😉
I’d read it, yeah. I’m doing a similar thing for my game, and when y’clean up game logs into prose form, it ends up not too shabby as a piece of adventure writing. Of course, I’m sure your readers (and your players) wouldn’t mind a bit of art on the side, too.
our group just started running the anniversary edition of rise of the runelords!
…only it’s been vastly modified with an assortment of world history and religion from the scarred lands product line from sword & sorcery.
i think what i’m trying to say is that it’s rise of the runelords, except batshit crazy.
i am loving every moment of it.
We just started Rise as well. And judging from your other tales, this would be MOST enjoyable to follow along with.
D20Dad, Just wait a couple years. I’m gaming with my 11 year old now.
Definitely be interested in the campaign journal!
Online campaign journal? Hmmm.
I’d read that.
Next up: Krampus develops a taste for pancakes.
I’d be happy to read ’em!
I hope that we learn Krampus is fighting under par with Santa Claus being at half power and all. Or am I reading that right? If they’re equal but Santa’s not quite there…
You’ll see. 🙂
Wait… If Klaus is Saruman then who’s the Sauron?
I would totally love to see a game journal for that.
I’d totally read it. Since I can’t seem to find anyone to join a new campaign here, living a campaign via reading would help soothe the geek soul.
I think a campaign journal area is a great idea. I know my “group” is having trouble organizing themselves, let alone get inspired for actual campaigns. It would be cool to see what other groups are doing
Poor Krampus. It’s not his fault!
Briiian. Make a campaign log. I want to read it!
