Vault of Deknar: Part Thirty-Four
Chapter: Season Seven
Good call Jeanie, leave them wanting more. Don’t worry though, we’ll get back to Dwayla and Calvis eventually. For now, let’s get back to the vault and what the hell is going on with the Hand of Fire.
HOVER-TEXT: She left out the part where Sam nearly had a heart attack. Dude was wound tighter than a virg– NO BRIAN. NO. NO!
Semi-relevant, had a buddy in college who used to say the phrase “That’s tight like the Virgin Mary” WAAAAAY too often. So, you know, if you ever needed something awkward to say to alienate people, that one works really well.
“Hand of Fire” is my all proctologist Mario Speed Completion crew.
Virgule (noun)
1. a short oblique stroke (/) between two words indicating that whichever is appropriate may be chosen to complete the sense of the text in which they occur:
“The defendant and his/her attorney must appear in court.”
2. a dividing line, as in dates, fractions, a run-in passage of poetry to show verse division, etc.: 3/21/27; “Sweetest love, I do not go/For weariness of thee.†(John Donne)
3. a short oblique stroke (/) used in computing; a forward slash.
And yeah that is a dice box over the Calvis mini. That is how I like to mark invisible characters when I can.
Cool idea, may have to steal that.
Blue potion ale: fills your mana and gets ya drunk!
I love the Dice box to mark invisible characters… I keep my minis in dice boxes when not use. they are great for travel and keeping the dust off
Why am I sensing a TPK?
I have no earthly idea. One of the most recent storylines and the fact that Sam is playing instead of DMing is all to do with a TPK. It makes no sense to do one now, plotwise.
The Hand of Fire â„¢. ( Warning: for external use only)
I clench as a free action.
That is a look that says ‘someone is about to get a flaming, acid-coated, poisoned, barbed pointy thing in their spleen’.
The smart thing to do would be to leave. The item they were sent to get isn’t there and there’s nothing in there that they could take for compensation that they could sell right away. That Hand of Fire would just bring them too much heat.
Hehe. Hand of Fire. Heat…
…ok, I’ll see myself out…
Yeah, the way Sam reacted suggests that the Hand is like a major artifact or something. Not something you swipe unless you really mean it, and way above their pay grade. GTFO while you still can.
[joke setup removed for the sake of time]
“what color are their hands now?”
Muppet quotes are always appreciated.
“What would you like to do now?” Run!
Oh goody…my recap!
This is a very nice pacing Jeanie provides for the group here. Great storyarc so far!
On another note… a friend of mine send me a nice link to the youtube channel of Matthew Colville, who speaks about some DMing techniques he picked up over his decades of experience and I think it’s a neat little support-channel for new DMs and players.
Have a look if you’re interested: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkVdb9Yr8fc05_VbAVfskCA
Yeah, they weren’t kidding when they said she was a great DM. This adventure is the first time we actually see her DM, and it doesn’t disappoint. (The C’thulhu stuff doesn’t really count, since the PoV is entirely inside the game there – we see the characters, not the players and DM)
