Until Death: Part One
Chapter: Season Four
The “Sergeant Weatherby” crack references a time in Abigail’s life where she posed as a man to serve in the military (an unfortunately necessary tactic for the period). While doing research for the period and these characters, I found a lot of articles on the subject and the topic of the first ladies to earn medical degrees. It is fascinating reading.
I am pretty excited about Mel’s new character “Dr. Katherine Ann Stevens” for reasons you’ll learn as the story progresses and yes, you are seeing that correctly, she only has one arm. As for Sam’s character? He’ll appear soon.
Ooh, I’m excited about this new location!
I can’t help but wonder what otherworldly being ATE Dr. Stevens’ missing arm…
Super excited about more IGS!
Mel’s Dread character only had one eye also! Sadly I lack the time available to hunt down if it was on the same side. I want to believe it’s all for a reason, but I have a feeling it’s just coincidence.
In this case, FG, it is nothing more than Mel having a thing for playing characters with physical scars, cues, etc. to add another layer of depth to their stories. That’s it. I promise.
As for the missing arm? Wait and see.
Was Mel the one who created Caldwell Sinclair by any chance?
Nope that was all Sam. They gave him a stat block and he made it his own.
Also, it occurs to me, does lacking body parts count as handicaps that allow for min-maxing or stat manipulation? I.E. “I’m short and mute, but I can put the extra points into my intelligence.”
“I didn’t spend six years in Evil Medical School to be called “mister,” thank you very much.”
– Dr. Evil.
Well, the good doctor seems a bit uptight, but then again, these characters tend to be dependable, and more likeable later on. As such, she was most likely asking about Abigail’s shoulder out of genuine concern, not as a jibe.
i *love* the artwork in the 6th panel here.
Thanks! I am pretty damn happy with that panel as well.
Is ‘brier’ a typo (meant to briar, the thorny plant)?
I can’t find any Cthulhu mythos mention of a council under either spelling.
There isn’t one proper. It is a piece of IGS mythos.
Brier is the old English spelling. And I should know because it’s part of my last name.
Ah, thanks Brian.
