Still Punning
Chapter: Season Ten
Because someone will ask: We learned a long while back that Charlie is a fantasy-romance writer working under the pen name “Nigel Pierce”. Nigel is an entire persona that allows Charlie to live a low-key life, but he does have to make appearances every once in a while.
Your characters are growing up! You must be so proud.
. . . are you expecting grand, um, characters?
Is that a typo in the first panel? “Do another tour once/when the new the new book…”?
Thanks as always for the great work!
Brian fixed it but missed another one – in the same panel!
I’m a meanie. I’m not going to tell him what the error is. He has to learn these things for himself! ๐
Found it! https://d20monkey.com/comic/shallow-breathing/
Stacks on Stacks on Stacks has slain me. I am dead.
RIP Valthonis.
Heads up: typo in “eligible” in the first panel.
On the list of things I will miss from this comic are the local business names around town. Brian Patterson, you have a gift. If I ever open a restaurant, I’m coming to you for names.
Same here. Reminds me of the first view of Mechanicsburg in “Girl Genius”

If Brian hasn’t already though of this, maybe Patreon donors could be rewarded by having shops named after or by them. Within reason, of course.
If you’re a heavy webcomic reader, you’ll notice that more than half of the business signs in that Mechanicsburg strip are actually shoutouts to several webcomics. Hell, almost all of them are!
Something Positive
Gunnerkrigg Court
Questionable Content
Order of the Stick
Girls with Slingshots
Home on the Strange
The Devil’s Panties
Freefall
Lackadaisy
Shortpacked
And those are just the ones that I’m 100% sure are webcomics. Either because I actively read them, or have encountered them in the past.
I wanna see Charlie hook up with that policewoman~
PLEASE TELL ME Charlie hooks up with the Cop from the Rhoid rage incident . .cause .. yeah . . i been hanging for that to happen ๐
Remind me again why you aren’t a freelance marketing agent? “Stacks on Stacks on Stacks” is pure gold.
Stacks on Stacks on Stacks is legitimately a good name for a pancake restaurant breakfast places with pun names are always better
Funniest pizza parlour restaurant name I ever heard (from a co-worker): “Passion of the Crust”
