Personally, picking a really flowery last name (or full name if you decide you are going go full Lord Bloodscar Heartripper Deathclaw) has always sort of rubbed me the wrong way, but if it works for someone, then live and let live I think. Some people like lots of whipping cream and frosting on their cake, some of us like a more modest amount.
