One Night in Xag: Part Seven
Chapter: Season Six
I’ll be traveling for the holidays but I am working ahead to make sure comics post on time while I am on the road.
(This is posting early on Sunday the 20th because I feel like a piece of shit for making people wait for new comics while I am working on freelance)
HOVER-TEXT: There-rat! Don’t think I didn’t hear you say that. I’m everywhere. Yes, I saw what you did last night.
I’d appreciate it if you didn’t watch me while I handle my… Kingly Business.
Kingly or Knightly
I’d appreciate it if you paid extra attention while I handled my business.
Wererats! Truly the most hated and vile of foes!
“There rat. There cavern.”
“Why are you talking like that?”
“I thought you wanted to!”
“No, I don’t.”
“Suit yourself. I’m easy!”
It’s like you read my mind.
Blucher!
*Horses whinney in panic*
Long-time reader, first time comment typer-upper. Look, don’t beat yourself up over missing a day or two around the holidays (or ever, really). I’m pretty confident anyone with a brain who reads your amazing comic knows the score, understands, and supports you anyway.
Hell, I don’t think anyone here would be mad at all if you took the rest of the year off. We can pick up this story in 2016. It’s only a few days away anyway. In the six years you’ve been doing this comic, it looks like you’ve had one year “off” – and while I don’t know what happened at the end of 2013, I’m smart enough to know it wasn’t a vacation.
Anyway. The point is this: I won’t be upset at all if you take the rest of the year off. And I can’t imagine any of your regular readers with half a brain cell would mind either. You’ve given us six glorious years of illustrated dungeon stories.
This year, why not give yourself a few days off?

I’m with you, Another Brian
Heck, I’ve been reading for around 3 to 4 years, went through the “christmas until febraury” arc (which I really love those arcs) and still reading. Not posting comments much.
Anyway, Author Brian, thanks for keeping up, but as Another Brian said do as you feel, and if you feel like taking a few days, we’ll be here waiting for your next update 😉

you know i think my players would be more happy than anything else to fight a were creature. theyd probably fight over who could get bitten for the cool transformation
I actually played a wererat once. It got surprisingly out of control, power wise.
out of control good or bad?
Ah, a classic: The adventurers on thier first quest to kill some rats in a cellar/tomb/cave.
I always found the were-rat addition a logical conclusion.
Since in many settings Were-anythings are resistant to everything not silver or fire. It’s really terrifying running into a Were-rat as the capstone of a standard “kill the rats” intro quest.
Especially when its in the sewers below your recently purchased Guild hall and none of you have silver or fire OR torches. and it proceed to curbstomp your fighter meatshield.
THEN you remember that you do have 3 bottles of Lantern oil and the mage has a fire starter cantrip.
Despite my (what I thought was) reasonable comment being moderated out of existence. Good news! Glad to hear you are planning ahead Brian!
Wererats: monsters that can give you lycanthropy AND the plague. Double fun!
Wererat?

There rat!
definitely the most urbanly acceptable lycanthropes, and to be expected really in any sewer-based environment. Favored in 3.5 for their massive Dex bonus.
