Chapter: Season Four

As the Cinderhaunt  arc winds down, I offer up the largest d20Monkey comic to date. I hope you enjoy it.
More to come on Friday and I will be announcing the winner of the Bob the Fighter contest shortly.
SUCH A GREAT STRIP! I love the tension of the roll of the die at the end. Epic work!
Him and Jeda can be twins!
And now Jeda has a handy extra arm lying around…
Calling the next strip, small filler one.
Mel: Whooo! Yes!
Trevor: Thank you die! This was great Sam!
Brett: Can I loot the arm?
*Panel of stares*
Brett (Angry): I’m missing one, and if you can bind a goddamn genie to a guy, you can bind that thing to my stump. I am getting some treasure out of this!
That’d give him, like, two left arms tho, wouldn’t it?
“Unless I’m missing something, Jeda seems to have lost his left arm, and so has the efreeti. I see no problems.”
Please, please, please, please, let this be the next comic.
Yeah I could see this as a fast filler
Hah! Seems legit but it isn’t what comes next though.
But if he replaces his arm with the severed arm of the guy who removed his original arm.. think of the delicious irony!
Replacing his arm would be the job of a hand – A HAND JOB!!!
I dunno why I feel so proud of making a comment that apparently amused the author. Still holding out hope that this was secretly the plan, and Brian’s just changing it because someone guessed it ahead of time.
Oh, I never change things if people predict it coming. I just take it that folks are following along and engaged enough to make such predictions. As for the arm and Jeda? Time will tell…
There are so many questions I have about the mage-bound, the bonds they have with their outsiders and how this would translate to real game mechanics, but I’ll put all those aside to say that this is probably my favorite strip of the whole arc thus far (tied with when Trevor put Brett in his place). Awesome job, Brian. This arc damn well better not be the last we see of Karthun or I swear I’ll find a way to rage-flip the internet.
Great strip, great arc! Keep them coming! Though I could do without the ‘Let’s hear it for the boy’ earworm.
I think you forgot to type your reply, but really just the avatar picture is sufficient as a reaction.
That’s so damn awesome, loving this arc.
Fantastic work Brian! Great show of tension with the die roll.
Dude! I’ve been on the edge of my seat this whole arc. I love the world building that went into this story, the tension that been building, and the feel of the game. Great storytelling. I love this strip.
It’s been an awesome arc. I’m guessing Brett’s bullshit is gone since he’s seen how good it is, even taking the worst of it via “drama” fudging, and that all he had to do was give it a chance… don’t think the method would fly with me (If anyone tried to blackmail someone at my table, they’d be punished accordingly, and probably not invited to return), but it fits the characters and group well enough…
I’m not sure that “Stop being a dick or I’ll tell your girlfriend you were being a dick” counts as blackmail. Tattling, more.
So…what do they have to do to stop the pissed off, unbound, one-armed efreet?
Glad I called what went wrong with killing him. Curious to see fallout of everything.
I love that Sam rolled the last one across the table, both for dramatic effect and so that nobody could claim he fudged. Restores confidence that way!
And looks SO godamn badass…
A brilliant story arc! Characters grew and blossomed under the threat of TPK, both in this fantastic new realm and at the gaming table itself. Just brilliant. Cheers all around Brian.
