Claus is such a B**H he’s gonna try to steal the mantle when Brent is beaten half to death cause even with only half of it Brent Kicked his uncle’s ass 3 times (wait was it 3?)
So, what’s the over-under that the shade in the purple crystal is Evil Sam give form subconsciously by Sam and the narrative? His fears and insecurities come back to haunt him for an epic final battle of self-discovery and saving his friends?
That would be interesting. Take the “Dark Self” route and Sam needs to face up to everything that haunts him. If that is the case, I could see “Nega Sam” looking like he did when he got dumped, just more twisted.
Could she be… Dwayla? Or perhaps someone related to her? We’ve already seen Ogres making it through from Karthun, and there was this little nugget back in April https://d20monkey.com/comic/shattered-honor-epilogue-part-one/ What else could bridge the gap?
Now taking bets as to whether or not Dove gets revealed as a Narrative wielder as well on the side of these douchebags. Taking bets… can’t win if you don’t play!
In all honesty, I expected this. Not to dump on an awesome reveal, but I DID see it coming. Klaus has power as a mantle bearer, what with him holding the second half of the Santa Clause mantle. His ruthless and war-like attitude would greatly appeal to Higgins, who was convinced that the entire court of seasons was soft. Being the Steward of Winter at the time, Higgins would know where Klaus was sealed away. And it’s subtle, but it was hinted at here: https://d20monkey.com/comic/elsewhere-epilogue/ that when Higgins first encountered Klaus and either released or loosened the seal that Brent felt it echo through the Mantle. All that aside, I am excited as all hell to see where this goes.
@Ticker, the comic before the one you linked also has an interesting tidbit: The “Being” speaking to Clive says that Clive hates Brett “as much as She [does].” I don’t think we’ve ever found out who “She” is. Could it be Mel? I wouldn’t expect it—Mel and Brett never got along, but that was a long time ago and both have moved on and evolved. However, (and granted I am absolutely exhausted, so my brain isn’t firing on all synapses) I can’t think of any other “She” that might fit that particular… narrative.
As a sidebar thought: Early on he was addressed as Higgins, but we now know him as Clive, and The Big Bad addressed him as Clive Delhopp. Did he get a name change somewhere along the way?
As a second sidebar, thought: While Dove as an Evil Narrative Wielder would be interesting, I don’t think that’ll pan out. Dove was afraid of Lee a while back when Lee accelerated their course of action, and in spite of Dove’s reputation as a master tactician, I don’t think his reputation as a master narcissist would let him feign timidity (certainly not for any extended period of time). Evil Sam seems like a hard Maybe. Honestly at this point I have no real ideas about who might be the Big Bad Behind the Crystal, save my speculation a while ago that it’s some primordial, “Old Gods” version of the King of Seasons seeking to reclaim its power from a bunch of upstart holidays.
The gang called Clive DelHopp “Higgins†as an insulting callback to another parsimonious, persnickety prick of a house-steward on “Magnum, P.I.â€
The big bad of the crystal is clearly skekSil – the Chamberlain Skeksis who now ruler is trying to draw power from the mantle bearers instead of the rest of Thra’s inhabitants. MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm!
Landwalker, his name is Clive Delhopp. When Brett first went to the north pole he saw Clive as the Pole’s butler, and called him Higgins as a Magnum PI throwback
Ah, thanks for the clarification. I’m not pop-culturally savvy enough to have picked up the reference and legitimately thought his original name was Higgins.
Yeah… I posted that at 3AM and reading it after I posted it I immediately regretted it as a lot of the things that you just pointed out occurred to me. I honestly wanted to take it down, but there ain’t exactly an option for it. Please let this stand as a testament: Don’t do shit unless you’re rested enough to think through the action.
But…he’s obviously being influenced by the crystal entity, too…so he’s not even the biggest bad. Jeanie’s reaction makes me think there was something *already under the Pole* that they didn’t consider a threat.

gasp
Well shit.
I can’t help but note that there is still a mystery shadow lurking in the background. Is Klaus just another underboss?
Klaus is a uber-minion, but not the Big Boss. Haven’t seen him get his ass kicked for years. It’s LONG overdue!

Given the explanation from Friday?
The third trial is still ongoing, and central to it is defeating your own dark thoughts made manifest? Oh yeah, that would be so frickin cool.
“That cave is strong with the dark side of the force. In you must go”

interesting concept. I’ll bet for you for 421 Rials
Now, having clicked the flashback, the Evil Shadow mentions a “She” we don’t know who the “She” yet, correct? Any guesses?
Yeah, the purple color scheme DOES remind me of one of the first big arcs in the comics…namely, EVIL SAM
And with Mel just getting back to town? Stuff is going to happen

Look at the crystal in the background. Claus is not the big bad. He’s just an underboss.

Thanos Klaus is coming to town!
