Gasp and Gulp
I am sure this is nothing to worry about. Nope.
(hopefully the visual elements convey that Charlie heard something or someone specifically in the restaurant)
Update: I made a little tweak to the speech bubbles that Charlie is overhearing to make it a bit more clear.
Also: $13 t-shirts and 35% off everything in my store!
What do your elven ears hear, Charlie?
More like bad souvenirs, from a young Charlie living with two bickering parents, using their child as a judge…
Huh. Is Charlie having a flashback, is he manifesting some superpower, (like the “I know when you last had sex thing”), or is he gaining an insight?
Overhearing someone.
when the series ends officially could you put up the casts character sheets I’m curios what Charlies passive perception is
I love that you conveyed his eyes widening even though we can’t see his eyes through the glasses!
The first speech bubble that doesn’t fit the conversation is in panel two: “Oh my god, right? That’s what I told him, too.”
And I think Charlie recognizes the voice … because his *gasp* is in the very next panel, where the second possibly-non-fitting speech bubble is: “Count Strahd can Get. It.”
He’s using his super-hearing to listen in on someone else’s conversation-but who?
Based on the conversation, it could be Brett and Jeannie?
Based on Charlie’s expression, I am half-expecting Trevor and Lee.
Ir’s almost definitely Trevor and Lee. This is about to be a fun breakfast.
fun fun or fun like a girl you had a crush on being on an episode of Jerry springer
Dwarf Fortress !!!FUN!!!

What is a waffle but an anorexic pancake?
Brian – panel 2 has Sam’s speech bubble linked with Amy’s.
I believe that’s because those two bubbles are the conversation happening next to him and the smaller one is a conversation elsewhere in the restaurant that he just keyed in on.
Good catch. I will fix that ASAP. Thank you!
He heard Trevor and his date. I’m calling it now.
I agree ith your assessment/prediction.
It needs to be pointed out that Amy’s logic is sound
This is true. Beyond the obvious advantage of syrup pockets, a waffle can be either crispy or fluffy and equally delicious, whereas a crispy pancake is just sad.
I like how the slight light on Charlie’s glasses make up his eye movement, very clever 😀
pancakes are little towels
Dad loves Pancakes
Must be a cultural thing, this notion that pancakes should be drenched in excess fat and sugary condiments? The batter is supposed to be mixed with a genereous helping of shredded potatoes and finely chopped onions (preferably spring onoins but even leek will do), then fried in a red-hot frying pan and served with lingonberry jam, salted pork, and raw chopped up carrots and kale.
Waffles should be eaten with whipped cream (real cream, not that nasty stuff in a spraycan) and your choice of blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, European strawberry (I think that’s whats Fragaria vesca is called in the US?) or if available cloudberry jam.
How am one supposed to focus on the comic when Waffles and Pancake is duking it out on the page?
How dare you sir, I live in the heart of Syrup Country and saying that Maple Syrup (the real stuff, not that garbage fake version) is not the optimal topping for waffles would get you challenged to at least 3 duels in your diner of choice.
