Epilogues now.
We will see Sam and Lee again, but the pages that follow are all about the final moments.

These are joy tears. you made water come out of my eyes, again!
The tides of denouement.
The feels – I have them all!
You attention to detail Brian!
I see the D20 in the first panel far right!
Well spotted
I want Brian to know I went back to the actual explosion pafe to see if I could spot any little green dots…
Thus feels right.
People have made comments in past strips how angry Sam had resembled Lee. Here, it appears that peaceful Lee is now looking more like Sam.
YES!
I made that comment, and also joining Abahachi in YES!
Seriously. Don’t poop here.
“See Marge, because of me, they have a warning.”
I’ve just been cutting onions…
I’m making a lasagna…
For one.
So it’s YOUR fault! Take those onions outta the chat and use a slap-chop 😛
Been wild run lads, lasses and godless Capellans. Kind of odd to finally see a story come to an end rather than just…stopping one day without closure. Thank you Brian.
Great stuff. Makes me think maybe Uncle Hugo’s in my old home town will also rise again.
Anyone else wondering what happened to Dove?
I just gotta say, love how in sync they were with that Lord of the Rings quote. But yeah, all of this family bonding is hitting me right in the feels.
*sigh* I’m running out of webcomics. All the good ones I’ve been trawling through for years have been ending, and it makes me the sads.
Well, at least this one is getting replaced by another one. And it even has an ending instead of dying randomly out of nowhere! Truly a rare specimen here. But yeah, I still catch myself going to check Schlock mercenary whenever the time catches my eye and I remember it’s when that updated 🙁
Here’s to hoping there are enough of us to convince ol’ Brian to make a dead tree collection of the whole series. I’d back that Kickstarter. 🙂
“Wizard shit”
I’m actually tempted to put that on an insurance claim at some point. (I mean, if you get to the point where you need to file one, then you probably need cheering up, right?)
Just gotta say, as someone who only found this site at the start of this horrible year, it has been an amazing rollercoaster ride binge reading from the very first comic through today. So sad to hear it is coming to and end…
You should novelize the whole story, it would give you the opportunity to flesh-out more of the “behind the scenes” and inner thoughts than the visual medium allows.
Is “kindgom†a typo, or am I missing a reference – an echo of “thag you very buch†in Bilbo’s birthday party speech?
“Flame Kissed D20” is the name of my heavy metal nerd band
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Was Lee’s plastic surgeon a wizard cause he has ZERO facial scars
I mean when your brother is personal friends with Santa Clause, a magic guardian spirit cat, and a wizard(not to mention being kinda maybe magic himself) having a plastic surgeon also be a wizard wouldn’t be to weird
Also this.
Xero, your low-key shade is noted. It is a consistent thing too.
And the injury was actually on the back of his head and guess what, they have to wrap the entire head. I know from personal experience and it sucks.
Hey Brian, since it’s evident that you read replies, on the page in which Charlie generates the shield, “it’s” should be “its.” You don’t need an apostrophe in the possessive case when using the pronoun “it”—that’s reserved for the contracted form of “it is.”
Flippy: I always do. Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll get that changed tomorrow. I appreciate it!
Likewise, fourth panel: “kingdom†rather than “kindgom
Not necessarily…
You see, the Gom is a strange Fey beast which looks cute, but is known for its unfortunate tendency to play vicious pranks on unsuspecting travellers. Thus leading to the slang phrase between adventurers “You totally got gommed!”
It is not to be confused with the “Kind Gom” (often written as “Kindgom”), which is a variant subspecies of Gom known for its deep compassion and helpful nature.
Stay safe out there folks!
Today’s Random Misinformation Broadcast is brought to you by the letters D & D, and the number… (rolls) 16!

Sam is a LITERAL reality warper. It would be super easy, with Lee’s consent (because consent is important lest Sam fall to true villainy!), to narrate away lasting scars. Something like say “Loki was pleased by the chaos caused by Lee’s part in the events of the eve of the explosions, amusing him to no end. To reward him, Loki invoked his mastery over trickery to play a trick on reality itself, as when the bandages were removed & contrary to all expectations, Lee had no lasting physical scars.”
Super easy, simple, and fun.
Besides… it’s a comic. It’s about fun. It doesn’t have to be super true-to-life.
Sam and Lee… When you say their names like that together I wanna see them drive around the country hunting monsters and playing dnd together.
Is it bad that I wanted them to move the apostrophe to call the place “Dragons’ Den”, since both of them are finally “living” there and it’s now Dragons, plural?
PLEEEEEEEASE tell me we’re going to see something entertaining happen to Dove before this is finished…
*sips coffee with a knowing look*
Even without Brian’s reply, I would have agreed with you. His involvement with Game Haus was as Lee’s useful idiot, and Lee was already treating him with appropriate contempt. I love this one from before it opened: https://d20monkey.com/comic/adults-are-speaking/
Personally? I’m hoping it’s a case of well-applied cancelling.
Scenario: Dallas’ Kickstarter does well, and she starts growing in popularity within the games market again for her brilliant modules and such. Her Kickstarter success gets her noticed by production companies who are exceptionally forward-thinking, she gets noticed by an outspoken Anita Sarkeesian-esque feminist who ends up digging up the dirt on how Dallas got cancelled by Dove long ago and his chauvinistic and misogynist “legion”, and said feminist rallies THEIR (much larger) legion and ultimately… Dove can’t… how was it Sam phrased it… “get in on a pickup pog tourney at the local flea market.”
Personally… I hope for dove’s near death experience to give him a heaping helping of growing up a bit. I believe in redemption. I am not talking religion here. I just mean people can change. Look at Brett. He has grown so much. Lee too. I want Dove to have that chance. I do not believe him to be beyond redemption. Would he have a lot to make up for? Would he have a life time of douchbaggery to apologize for? Yes and yes… Redemption is a harder road then simply being defeated. Plus him eating humble pie and apologizing would be satisfying to me.
My local game shop closed. It was a lounge, or cafe, or whatever you might cal it. It was my go-to on rainy Sundays with the kids, where we would usually be cold and wet by the time we got there, and would order hot chocolate, or ice creme floats, or a brown ale for me (it was licensed), and would select one of the hundreds of games that they had available. Usually starting with Munchkin.
It closed. It was a victim of COVID19 and a greedy landlord who has been pushing up rents. It sounds like it could be a made-for-TV movie, with patrons rallying, but really, COVID did it in.
Support your local Dragon’s Den.
Awh man. As excited as I am for the Innsmouth Garden Society, I’m gonna be pretty sad when this comic is finally over.
Gotta ask tho – is IGS gonna be on this site?
Or is there a new site being planned?
Random late nght thought (it’s 1am UK time)
Is there any truth in the rumour that the King of Seasons made Snoopy the new Easter mantle-bearer?
@Brian – the Dragon picture on the sign is awesome. Any chance of getting that Dragon’s Den Logo on a T-Shirt?
Anyone else notice that Lee and Sam are speaking with ‘NARRATIVE GOLD’ speech bubbles in those middle 3 panals?
