Dungeon Run: The Hoard of Tyraxion
Chapter: Comics, Season Five
The players have reached the final zone: The Hoard of Tyraxion!
GenCon is this week and I am working hard to get comics finished and posted for the week while I am in Indianapolis but if I cannot get everything finished, I will let you guys know on Wednesday. I’m pushing hard, though so I think we’ll be okay.
Hover-text: Some days you just have to go Carlos on an encounter
Please make that a shirt
Seconded
Thirded!
I’d love a Shirt with a Barbarian raging
“Shiny Rock! Mine!”
Fourthed. with the shirt having Carlos on it
Two years later, why is this not a shirt yet?
There is a motion on the floor. Do we have a quorum?
Yes.
The t-shirt should be our beloved Bardbarian on an electric guitar throwing up the devil horns, mid-rage.
Or am I just weird?
“SHINY ROCK IS MINE!!!”
Nice!
“Shiny Rock Is Mine!” is the newest album from Barbarian Demon Rage! Available for pre-order from Amazon now!
I don’t know. That still seems like too coherent a thought for a demonically enraged barbarian.
it’s a little verbose i’ll grant you but he basically said OOO SHINY!
According to the alt-text here https://d20monkey.com/2014/07/30/dungeon-run-nowhere-to-run/
Carlos’ character is a Bard. I don’t think Bard-buffing lowers WIS scores to Barbarian levels.
Can not wait for GenCon, sad I will be missing the meet up/panels since I am volunteering during those times so I hope you guys have blast.
I can’t count how many times I heard “SHINY ___ IS MINE” right before a TPK….
I so want it to be a bluff and Carlos wins just because he grabs the rock first… after squishing Dove ofcourse
I love it. Carlos is the kind of guy I’d like to have in my group, able to just lose himself in a character.
I guarantee after the last minute or so they forgot Carlos was sitting there. He screamed this out, reminding them. Someone fell out of their chair. I really want to see a table shot of who fell out of their chair.
I really want Karthun to be an actual published campaign setting, just so I can play a barbarian.
Brian is writing rules for Karthun i believe with the intent to publish them. I too really want to play a campaign…
Nice. I was surprised the hover text wasn’t “Leeeeeeerooooyyyyy Jennnnnkinsssss!”
It was the first thing that popped into my head as well.
When he holds up the little map all I see is a little white hand flipping everyone the bird.
I was reading through the comments to see if anyone else thought it looked like the bird as well. Actually, the first thing I did was check the hover text to see if it said something about it as I assumed it was intentional. Guess not.
aaand, carlos the bardzerker brings the chaos. let the malthusian battle of all against all begin. like so many before them, in homage to hobbes, i predict that most of the characters lives from this point on will be nasty, brutish, and short.
Spelling nitpick: it’s “pedestal”.
World-building comment: I love the hints of the setting history like the one in the second panel. Put me down as someone who would put money down on a Karthun playtest document.
Story comment: Haha! Go Carlos!
Was about to nitpick on the same thing. Glad I didn’t have to be that guy this time. š
That said, I’ve had something similar to this happen in one of my campaigns. They spent 45 minutes trying to figure out the trap mechanism before realizing the chamber was losing air. Would’ve been a TPK if they hadn’t had a teleport contingency plan set up ahead of time.
Oh hell….there is always ONE Leeroy in such a crowd, amiright? XD
Go carlos,go š
YES! the first thing that came to mind was Leroy’s battle cry. This should be quite entertaining to watch. Any bets on whether its going to cause aggro or just a straight up trap kill?
I think that getting close enough to the light will cause a glyph/sigil enchanted (long ago) to activate and either release some pretty damn strong enemies (spirits/demons or what you like) or start making this room an obstacle course to end all obstacle courses.
I think it is a sphere of annihilation with a simple illusion cast on it. XD
I’m not sure, but I think the map is giving them the finger?
I think I speak for everyone when I say: I would rather wait for a couple issues and have you well rested for the trip. Two of the comics I read are written by authors who have ground themselves to a nub, as a result the updates are few and far between. Take care of yourself and dont rush around on our account.
I’m going to be disappointed if Carlos doesn’t become a regular.
CAAARLOOOOOOS JEEEENKINS!
The best laid plans of mages and men…
…get ruined by a raging barbarian again.
This has to be turned into shirt.
a shirt*
Whoops.
Carlos: “SHINY ROCK IS MINE!”
DM: “he claimed it. good game everyone.”
He never said you had to get to it š
Well said sir… well said…
That is just the type of DM tom-foolery I enjoy doing that makes the game worth running sometimes.
I swear I will NEVER get tired of seeing Phillip Dove’s (character’s) face twisted into the “OH GOD WHY” visage. He’s just drawn in a way that makes it extra hilarious, even if he wasn’t a dirtbag.
In my campaign I run a barbarian whose simplistic mindset is beaten only by his martial prowess. He is dumb and cocky enough to rush right in at the shiny rock. My DM has spent the last 9 months trying to kill me, but he was too nice early on and I’ve been running with it.
