My computer rolled over so I cannot work on comics or freelance (that pays most of my bills) in addition to several things not going my way this week. But hey, bust my balls.
I’m pretty sure you were being teased gently Brian. I hope things go better for you soon.
May the crits come when you need them, and maybe the monsters blocking your path won’t cause too much trouble.
You are 100% correct. My comment to Plubion came across a little snappy and that isn’t cool. I’m sorry guys. It’s just stressful over here at the moment. My source of income is my computer and with it down, I am in a bit of a panic.
Plubion is not a jerk. He made a point to make it known it was a tease. Also the reason was that the conic wasn’t up a whole 24 hrs after it was said. I get my balls busted at work if I don’t deliver for a day.
Brian was good to come back in and clarify so that we can be supportive.
So you’d be cool with me giving you shit for something that I don’t compensate you for when you’re already stressed out about your main means of income is jacked on top of who knows what else you’re dealing with?
Cause I’ll tell ya…switch it around and I could give two shits if you were joking and it was actually funny.
I’ll reply because I have nothing better to do….
I get a hard time at my job from plenty of people for many things that are outside my control and they aren’t paying me, so I’ve grown thick skin.
In my humble opinion the only thing Brian could’ve done differently was to drop the last sentence. But he came back in and apologized which was great. He may have told us as soon as it happened or as son as he had time wit tring to get back up and running. He’s cultivated a great community of support and I hope this gets resolved quickly.
@Brian: I made the rib at you in jest, not realizing the entirety of the situation. I apologize for stressing you more in such a situation hopefully everything will get up and running soon.
@ rhea and Alex: Y’all get me and thanks for having my back and trying to explain the intricate complexity of a joke to….
@Matt: toughen up buttercup. busting balls is what friends do, admittedly I don’t know brian personally but I have followed this comic for many years…at least 3 probably longer i cant remember~ I’ve followed his trials and tribulations, I prayed for him during his injuries, I’ve smiled at his victorys. maybe I did overstep my bounds making a joke with a person I didnt know personally, but my comment was made in no malice and ment only to be laughed at
I get it was a joke and I get you didn’t realize the whole situation and good on you for copping to it and apologizing when you did.
The thing is, I spoke up not because your highbrow comedy flew over my head, but because I’m an ACTUAL friend of Brian’s and would very much like to see people back off and stop making the same damned “joke” every time….cause when you hear something enough times….and Lord knows he gets this kind of crap from enough clowns.
Bottom line is you don’t have to intend malice to inflict it. If you don’t know what someone is dealing with, maybe it’s best to just keep that A+ material in the clubs.
If I remember right, there’s a way you can plug in an internal hard drive (presuming that it’s not died and thus is the reason for the computer dying) from the old computer into a new computer for data transfer without having to start fiddling with internals.
I can’t remember the name but I did see it in operation when computers came in for repair and hard drive death or related problems were suspected.
Ouch…there is literally nothing I can write in a comment box to make any of that better…but I’m sorry :(. Good luck! D20monkey is a comic WELL worth waiting for! Hope everything works out for you!
The computer can be sacrificed to the elder gods or something, so long as you can recover your data first.
Computer problems are nothing new to us. But considering it is your livelihood, it would be extra stressful. We as your fans will wait as long as you need. Just hope for your sake that you can get yourself back online soon…
I don’t intend for this to hurt any feelings buuuuutttt… It seems like update delays are becoming more the rule than the exception. Speaking as a consumer of that which you produce; and given that d20monkey+fee lance are your full time jobs now, I think it’s fair for us to expect you to have a backup in place for these sorts of unforeseeable hurtles. As I understand the intermcwebs, page views = ad revenue, so isn’t this kinda like going to your favorite coffee shop, paying for your coffee, and then finding out that the coffee making machine is still broken?
Dude’s computer died on him and he’s having a bunch of other personal issues going on. Lets cut Brian some slack here. If your a patreon or something yeah complain but as far as I’m aware D20 Monkey is free and he does this to make a little extra money. Its not like the ad revenue is going to make him rich. I look forward to new D20 monkey every time I come to the site and yeah I’m bummed when the update does not happen but stuff happens in real life that’s outside of peoples control.
I can see where you’re coming from, and agree that having buffer pages MAY be helpful, but you’re TOTALLY wording this to him in the wrong way. If the buffer pages were stored on the pc that has died, then having the buffer pages does NOTHING. Stating that you are a consumer implies that you’re spending money. Have you been spending money? Brian COULD be charging for views of this comic and is not. Your ‘consumerism’ takes approximately 30 seconds at most to see that another day has gone by and someone who you are a fan of is still down on his luck and is having a hard time in life. It’s not like checking in is any skin off your back, so please try not to be a monkey on his. So WHAT if he is making a few cents off of you visiting? He needs to replace a COMPUTER. AFTER the expense of major surgery (he likely has bills pending over 10k, even after insurance). As a fan that is so concerned for his getting back on the horse and providing content, maybe you should spend an hour going back and forth to this page to generate more page hits = more ad revenue = more money so he can get a new pc and get back into the game? It’d be more helpful than the self entitled comment you left.
Yeah. You have a point. It sucks but I will get back on track as soon as possible. If checking back and finding the same placeholder annoys you, step away from a while and come back in a week or so. Hopefully I will have more news by then. No hard feelings.
Everyone else: let’s be cool. No sense in making a stressful time for me more stressful by going down the rabbit hole in comment arguments. Dude has a point and I accept it/have to deal with it. I knew that when I started this comic. It’s the nature of the beast.
I would like to reiterate that I wasn’t trying to be hurtful. Just giving some valid criticism. “Cram your entitlement up your tight little pucker.” seems a little out of line.
I personally meditate daily and am a very patient person whom can wait through anything needed. Its all a matter of focus and patience, both of which are things many are short of with the great work you do and the wonderful stories you come up with.
Brennon, Please take your attitude of entitlement and kindly go away. Brian is not a machine, nor is he a franchise. Even local mom-and-pop coffeshops can get their coffee machines repaired or replaced easily, so yes, you would have a valid gripe there.
Brian, however, is just a human, with a broken laptop. Yes, it can be replaced. The art? no, that has to be REMADE. So, it is reasonable ot attempt to retrieve the data before trying to recreate the whole thing. I’m no artist, just a former programmer-turned-programming-instructor. However, I know first hand how hard it is to recreate a program from scratch versus trying to salvage at least SOME of it. Cut the man a LOT of slack. until you try to go it completely on your own, don’t try to compare your salary world to his. we are not his sole source of income. There are businesses depending on him for his freelance work. deadlines that he HAS to meet or risk losing compensation while still having to deliver his product. Let the man get his primary priorities taken care of first. And stop thinking only about yourself.
Brennon, it’s really *nothing* like your metaphor. You didn’t pay for this “coffee”–Brian’s not making enough money from ad revenue to do much more than keep the website afloat anyways, I’d wager. Now if you are a backer of his patreon, *then* maybe you’d have reason to complain.
But speaking as a backer of his patreon, you’re way out of line. I love d20Monkey as much as anyone who visits this site regularly (maybe more, as a backer), and I know that sometimes, computer issues happen. Sure, it’s happened a little more often than everyone would like, but that’s the nature of digital comics and illustration freelancing.
If you want to buy Brian a backup computer/tablet, feel free–then you’d definitely be entitled to complain. But as it stands, maybe cut it out? Brian has enough to worry about without your Internet entitlement to worry about.
Brian– don’t let the hater(s) get you down! You do you, and the rest of us true fans will still be here once your technical issues are over. 🙂
Again. I wasn’t trying to be mean or hurtful. I was trying to give some constructive feedback. And I feel as if my metaphor does hold up. my time spent at his website=an agreed upon amount of add revenue. I will admit that the amount of add revenue may seem inconsequential on a per person scale. I would also argue that just like Joe Schmoe who owns one billionth of the total available shares in (insert large publicly owned buisness here) I still am entitled to my opinion. And I still love this comic. And I will probably come back for a long while. I still stand by my (in my opinion) constructive criticism.
You may feel it does, but in reality it really doesn’t. In computer terms your statement comes out somewhat trollish. This may not have been on purpose but there you have it. Take your impatience and throw it out the door, this is RL, as gamers say, or “Real Life” things happen, like a certain DM in the game breaking his leg. Which is a very good example of a metaphor. I had a web comic stalled for a good 8 months at one point because the artist broke their writing arm and he had to retrain himself to draw left handed while he was healing. This is nothing in the grand cosmic scheme of things so take a deep breath and let it be my friend, you do yourself and everyone else a disservice with what you have written. Back up a bit, breath deeply and let the negative energy your trying to push into the room simple flow away from you, not in our direction. we are the so called “Joe Schmoes” your talking about and none of use, except you, seem to have a problem waiting. If you still have a problem then you really need to rethink the way your handling things and look at it from a different perspective.
The constructive feedback would be “There seems to be a lot of these delays recently. Maybe it would be a good idea to officially go to fewer updates a week so people aren’t being disappointed? It helps avoid people being dicks when something unavoidable like this happens”.
Going ‘As a consumer, I expect better’ as you essentially did isn’t constructive. Companies that many people actually DO pay for have longer (and worse) service drops. Almost all of us reading this do NOT pay for it, except through the tiny Ad Revenue. Maybe attacking someone who is providing you with free entertainment – and yes, that is how you come across – is not the best of strategies.
Am I disappointed every time I come here and see that it’s still not fixed? Yes. Of course I am. But even if Brian’s just meandering around staring at the ceiling, I have absolutely no right to attack him over him not fixing the problem “Fast Enough”. EVEN IF he is not devoting attention to fixing it -and I’m fairly damn sure he is – I don’t have the right. He’s producing something that I care enough about to check after all those delays you are complaining about….for free.
Back down. You aren’t being constructive here. You are absolutely coming across as an entitled jackass about this. If that was not your intention, admit fault and apologise.
“Everyone else: let’s be cool. No sense in making a stressful time for me more stressful by going down the rabbit hole in comment arguments.”
The guy made a specific request, and that request has been clearly ignored by persons on both sides of the opinion. I’d prefer to try to respect his wishes and not make things worse for him.
What insult was that exactly? You seem to be either imagining what wasn’t said, ignoring what was, or a bit of both.
The statement of personal preference was exactly that, personal, as in applying to my own actions, as in “I could take issue with some of the things that were said regarding the current situation, but Brian asked us not to for his sake, so I’d prefer not to get involved in that discussion.”
What you do and what you prefer to do is of course up to you; I’m just pointing out the request the author made and suggesting that there would be some merit to paying it some attention and maybe a little respect.
The irony is that if you were really that hung up on people not being rude towards the guy who provides us largely free content and entertainment as you claim to be, maybe you would do the same instead of fueling the flames of the very argument that he asked not be conducted.
And I apologised for making it more difficult to Brian, and then pointed out that you just insulted me.
You just did it again, incidentally, by accusing me of lying. “If you really were hung up on people not being rude”, and also declare that I am “Imagining what wasn’t said”.
I posted pointing out that what was being said was not constructive. You replied saying that Brian had taken it to heart anyway and it should not be continued. I said that it shouldn’t matter, and you said that this obviously meant I didn’t understand.
I understand. Perhaps if you don’t want to “Fuel the flames” you could try making a post that ISN’T attacking my understand, declaring me a liar, or declaring that I’m imagining things?
Seriously.
Again, I know this isn’t helping Brian, but stop fething insulting me, Blackbird.
If you find observations of fact to be insulting, perhaps they hit a bit too close to home?
Fact: You called out Brennon Brunet for being rude towards Brian (your exact claim was that he was being an “entitled jackass”), and that BB owed an apology for such behavior.
Fact: Brian specifically asked us not to engage in an comment argument on the subject of Brennon Brunet’s complaints about the comic delay – a request which you and others blatantly disregarded.
Do you really not see the enormous hypocrisy in attacking someone for disrespectful behavior towards the site owner/comic author, when by doing so you are exhibiting disrespect towards the same individual?
Actually were saying we disagree with his comment, find it unhelpful, and are patiently waiting for an artist we both respect and like to be able to get back to work. I in point of fact made a suggestion on something Brian cane do to help keep this from happening as often and I also called what was written what it actually is, trolling. I have never found trolling to be constructive or worth my time when I’ve seen it in the past, is it any different this time?
Hey man try not and stress yourself out too much most of us love this series and the work you do. We don’t mind waiting for you to get stuff straightened out. As a bonus now I have a reason to go back and re-read the comic from begining.
Just wanted to clarify a couple o’ things. “Consumer” is not a descriptor that is only associated with economics. Brian produces. You and I both consume his productions. I don’t care who spent more money, and yes my time spent on his website is still equal to a definable amount of revenue. One last time. Wasn’t trying to be mean. Wasn’t whining. Wasn’t disparaging Brian in any way. Calm the fuck down.
Hang in there. I’m gathering that there is more technically wrong than simple data loss, so that lectures on backups aren’t useful. Wish I was there to lend a hand.
Almost every one of my favorite internet comics has had interludes for a wide range of personal and other reasons. Some last for weeks, or even months. I’m there when they get back, and I’ll be here when you get back.
Sometimes I want to reach through the internet and slap people who get difficult with hiatuses and breaks due to issues. I love my webcomics, but I also understand too. I’ve had comics go on hiatus because the artist suddenly got discovered, the artist’s relative died, the artist’s job sent them to a foreign country, the artist’s laptop monitor broke…life happens and I figure that I shouldn’t add to the stress given my own stress-related issues.
I should add…I stop by every couple days to check for updates and new strips. I once took six months to give up on a strip with no updates, so no worries.
Awemen sister, I think, though nobody can really say who or even which sex any of us really are on the net. Anyway I know where your coming from and I often feel the same exact way, Although I would make a suggestion to Brian because its exactly what I do in case of situations like this. I keep multiple exterior drives of 1 – 2 T around which I hook into my system and keep all important data in. In point of fact nothing of value or importance is actually on my system. Recently I had my own system finally heave a final gasp and die on me but because I keep everything, like my own projects on exterior drives I could just keep going after replacing my system and didn’t have to worry about trying to recreate the data or recover it. I would suggest that Brian might want to look into doing something like that in the future since you can buy an exterior 1T drive would cost around $50 to at most $100 and would neatly keep this from happening again. Just the suggestion of one friendly artist to another though our mediums do differ this could be just the thing for you to help with the problem.
I hear that. I have multiple backups of my fiction writing. I started being obsessive about it after I lost half a novel. Then again, it proved to be a blessing in the long run.
Hey Brian, If you live in the west coast area or somewhere in the Kansas area I do have tech people that might be able to help in trade or cash on fixing your problem including building computers….. Granted some of these are not next gen desktops but they do the job and the one guy actually built mine from scratch from rebuilt parts and it works great and is up gradable when I need it….. The guy is also a major D&D player (started all the way back to the white books) and I am sure he can build something for the right price…..
Don’t worry man. Just get your computer straigtened out, catch up on any work you missed, and we’ll wait till then for a new comic. Just don’t stress out. I know firsthand how much it sucks to be stressed out over a malfunctioning computer.
HI! New reader here! I just spent the entire day power-reading your comic and I gotta say…I LOVE IT! I won’t say it’s perfect, nothing ever is, but this is one of the best webcomics I have EVER had the honor of reading! I hope your computer woes are eased soon, cause I can’t wait for the next page! Exclamation mark! lol 😛
Hang in there Brian. We love you and the site. Don’t forget to take it all with a grain of salt and that tomorrow is another day. Oh and that Brunet person is a “doucher” of the highest magnitude. He is surely the bag and the nozzle. Hope to see you soon.
take the time you need friend, we will all be here when you are back up and running. Until then don’t stress over the comic, we have all been in these kind of situations before and generally understand. Good luck, and may the force be with you.
Hope your computer woes end soon! … Let us (all of us) know what we may do to help. “Computers is kinda cheap now,” (bad grammar on purpose). Maybe some sort of crowdfunded reboot/reset? Just holler! You’re talented and, I for one, care about your characters and the story lines you are creating and hope you are (electronically) well ASAP!
I hope your computer will be up and running soon. Don’t stress yourself out over not updating. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Karthun, I love watching the group play and the setting as a whole.
Now see Brian everyone does support you, were going to be here for you and those who stay and wait, which are the vast majority are your true friends and loyal supporters. Were not going to run out on you and we know your not going to run out on us. So get things going again and get all caught up on the things you need to do to make a living. We will be here waiting for you like the friends we are and the loyal fans of your work we all happen to be. Get things done and hopefully you’ll have some nice things for us to read soon enough. Soon enough being when everything else is settled.
I see you are in Colorado, good sir. If you make your way up to Fort Collins I would be happy to recommend/show you some of our finest ales and breweries!
I’m not sure if it’ll help, but I’ve got an old tower sitting around gathering dust. It’s about six years old, but if you need it I can get it out to you.
Yo Brian!
How’s it hanging? I was just checking in to see if you’re all right, since the end of second week draws near and it’s unlikely of you to miss an update. Good to read that it’s “only” your computer who’s sick this time. You might want to post this fact directly under your comic so that everyone who’s just checking for news gets it. Problems with one’s machine are always shitty to have, but with you depending on the money you make with it I can only guess how much more bothersome it might be.
Anyway… I cross my fingers for you and hope that the problem is resolved soon.
Best wishes and all,
Animus
HELLO!! Mr.Brian, although these seems a bad time to chit chat, I thought that maybe my story would at least do some good in this troubled times, even more after reading some of the comments here . So I just have to say that your comics inspired me, although started in about a week or so ,I’ve read throughout all of it ,in about a few days and the first or second of which I stopped reading at 5am and had begun at like 11 or 12 pm . And here’s how it and you inspired me:
I’ve been wanting to play D&D for years (more in the last couple, when found the Acquisitions Inc. from the Penny Arcade) , but here, where I live isn’t so easy (I’m from and in Portugal) . But with the 5e I could really get into it, and get friends too (which is also the hardest part) and while looking for stuff, found your strip , in a facebook group (the alignment strip) it was very funny , and also saw your 5e bard one . But because I hadn’t started playing I thought of saving it , and read the whole thing then. And now (around 4th of April or something) we started playing (and I’m DMing!! and playing a rogue halfling from the Lost Mine Of Phandelver adventure) and me and a friend got so hooked that we started looking to everything D&D, and I came back to your series. And it really made me want to “live” that, to have and make new friends in this rpg world ,to play with, to go on classic adventures. To try Grayhawk , Call Of Cthulhu so that they don’t get sick of crawling through dungeons, and even to make a bard has my first real character (when we’re done with the adventure).
Sam is also helping me get ideas and stuff to do has a DM too. I would really love to have started like you, has a 10year old kid and stuff, with friends playing 10h sessions ahah (but we’ll try that in the summer), so now ,I have to make up for lost time.
Sam and Brett and the rest of the gangue is really making it easy to learn from a lot of different stuff in the rpg world , and of the stuff and kinds of people there are around this “so much more than a hobby” and RPG world, from a great way to explain alignment (that’s how I’m presenting them the alignment post that’s how I’m showing them what they really mean ) , to other rpgs (the already mentioned CoC) to send notes between players and DM’s (not sure if itll cause that much suspense, but really want to try that to , to make them get really into it) , to losing the shyness and try going on the local store’s Dungeon Run ,to wanting to run adventure modules like Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, I mean that shit really has a…….Spoilers……………………..( SPACESHIIP!!) , I’m going to try running it when start with the classic adventures (after tiamat, and elemental evil) that and ravenloft seem awesome!! and maybe one day try to dwell in Karthun: The Lands of Conflict.
Also would like to mention that, although live in a country that’s only now growing in the “geek world” , from anime, magic the gathering , RPGs, Tabletop and that stuff, I always loved that stuff, and would like to do something about it, and when I found Penny Arcade and with that , found that webseries, that could really touch people existed, and then found d20monkey, and how you do it with all you can, even if you have other stuff and can’t just focus on this, its really awesome and inspiring to at least one day try to do one too , I always loved comics (although here its more Disney /European ,asterix , lucky luke comics, and manga , then dc /marvel, stuff, but that’s changed a lot in the last couple years) and imagining other worlds and stories, but didn’t really think a lot of people would care, until found people like you who do this stuff.
So even if you’re having problems and it sucks, and even if it takes you however long it takes, I bet there’s a lot of people here that will just wait with more and more anticipation for the continuation of the monkey adventure. . Like the Star Wars movies!! (btw evil sam was super fun, and I was gonna say wich my favorite character is, maybe Charlie because his super funny and it seems you’ve been leaving him out of the few arcs, or not using him a lot like you used to , but the cast is bigger and of course you can’t have them all there , and really like all of them, Brett Sam, Trevor is just awesome, and Larry is the shit , can’t choose , but wanted to show some Charlie Love , also he is the (kung fu singing) best bard!!) And if you ever read this (sorry for the bad punctuation, or confusing text, its late here ), just really wanted to say what sharing your stories meant and THANKS FOR YOUR ART!!
Hey Brian, just a quick question… What do you need? Hard drives? Memory? CPU/MOBO?
I mean, I’m sure I’m not the only one with spare, almost new parts kicking around.
I know you’re not one for charity, but if I can help out, I will.
Stay strong Brian! Sorry for all the technological difficulties, but they’ll only seem worse if you stress yourself out. Remember you’ve got a raging crowd of devoted fans who won’t hold any breakdown problems against you. You shell out more individually amusing comics on the regular than most, the least us viewers can do is offer a little patience.
Sending good thoughts your way!
How about we tell different D&D/Pathfinder/Shadowrun/Any rpg tales that we have until the new comic comes out? Any Tale that we can think of. Bad ass, Funny, Cringing, etc.
In a session of D&D with my gaming group the most astonishing thing happened. Our party at the time was a Drow Bard (Me), a dwarf hexblade, a human druid, a wood elf monk and a human thief (who claimed to be a skilled fighter. But that’s another tale). All of our party was somewhere along the neutral track. The druid saved up his gold and managed to get himself dragon scale plate and boy he was excited upon getting it. Why am I telling you this? Well keep reading.
So our party was moving from city to city, trying to find work and adventure. On the way to one of the cities our party got ambushed by Bandits. What we DIDN’T know is that one of the bandits was a mage. So I try to talk our way out of the situation without losing our gold or any party members. Sadly the Bandit Leader wasn’t willing to negotiate and so combat sprung. He shouted to his men “Get the bard!”. When the bandit mage got his turn he pulled out a scroll of Prismatic Spray and aimed the spell at me. This is when things get unfortunate for our poor druid.
So the bandit launches off his spell at me. The DM calls that me and the druid (who’s character was just in the range of the spell) roll a reflex save to dodge it. I manage to get out of the way of the spell but the druid…not so lucky. Our GM rolls to see what happens and he rolled to see what would happen to the poor druid. All of a sudden a look of shock appears on our GM’s face as he tells the druid to roll his will save. Our druid did so and, as you can guess, failed. Our GM then describes to us the druid vanishing from sight and tells us that the violet ray hit him. The violet ray teleports your to a random plane of existence. The bandit leader was in shock at what his mage did and called a truce and parted ways. But the story doesn’t end here.
So the GM has the druid roll to see where he ended up. The druid found himself teleported into the 7th Hell and then was punted out by the devils. Our druid found himself next trapped in the elemental plane of earth and was slowly suffocating before the GM rolled one last time and had him return to the material plane…on the other side of the world. So the player rolled up a new character, a chaotic Good pacifistic drow just to spite me. He got over it but was bummed that he lost his druid.
Withdrawal symptoms kicking in . .. . .just saying .. 😛 love your stuff Brian . ..and your fans will wait. A good story should not be rushed.. . (although seriously we are all gamer geeks and if we communally can not fix this in the SLA window we need to get our Geekiness re-certified)
Brian,
been reading for a long while, enjoy the comic very much. I have never posted, but felt it was time….
as mentioned by other, i also have an older desktop (maybe 3-4 years old) and a laptop (maybe 3-4 yrs, win7 64 bit), both Lenovo’s..old work hardware…you are welcome to either….no strings..(my wife would be happy i got rid of either of them lol) not sure what your hardware requirements are, especially your graphic needs.. but if your interested i can provide the specs…i’ll ship ’em too, so no worries there….i’ve enjoyed your hard work these many years, very least i can do….
Good luck with everything, Brian! Tech issues can SUCK 8[. I just wanted to let you know that however long it takes, I will keep coming back to your comic because the stories are worth waiting for! I’ve invested too much time and emotion with these characters to just give it all up because of an unexpected break in updates. You could disappear into another dimension for YEARS and if you found your way back somehow and started pumping out comics again I would happily come right back and start reading again. We’ll be here for you, man. Waiting hungrily for new material 8].
p.s. Does anyone here read Goblins by Tarol Hunt? It is another awesome web comic related to tabletop gaming. Anyway, point is Tarol had a bunch of crap happen and basically didn’t put out any updates for like a year, but those of us who love his stories never gave up on him, either.
HOVER-TEXT: “You clicky-clacky, one-eyed sumbitches kidnapped the human I tolerate that puts food in Mama’s belly so now you die!”
How dare you get my hopes up and then crush them like that? 🙁
New Sub-Arc type. Emma’s Dreams. We have the Cthulhu Games, still wanting another one of those, the Christmas ones and a few others.
no worries, take your time I’ll be here…rolling dice.
Why isn’t this a thing yet???
Chop chop my good man!
And another story joins the Brian’s Quick Comic Day spinoff.
I will totally read this.
been wondering what emma has been up to, now I know, possibly too much. Nah just the right amount
i like how it says “see you Friday” and it is now noon Saturday~
mostly just here to bust your balls~~
My computer rolled over so I cannot work on comics or freelance (that pays most of my bills) in addition to several things not going my way this week. But hey, bust my balls.
I’m pretty sure you were being teased gently Brian. I hope things go better for you soon.

You are 100% correct. My comment to Plubion came across a little snappy and that isn’t cool. I’m sorry guys. It’s just stressful over here at the moment. My source of income is my computer and with it down, I am in a bit of a panic.
I’ll update everyone tomorrow.
It was an appropriate response to a pretty jerk comment. Nothing gentle about it.
Busting balls for no reason is a shitty thing to do.
I have one of those. I got it from Thinkgeek. It’s very useful and not too expensive.
I hope things are getting better for you, Brian.
Best of luck with your computer, Brian!
Um, a question, leaving Emma here….. Will their be anything to come back to when she is done?
Ouch…there is literally nothing I can write in a comment box to make any of that better…but I’m sorry :(. Good luck! D20monkey is a comic WELL worth waiting for! Hope everything works out for you!
Good Luck Brian and we can wait. You have the France behind you!
…Well, at least a french fan. But a BIG fan!
The computer can be sacrificed to the elder gods or something, so long as you can recover your data first.
Computer problems are nothing new to us. But considering it is your livelihood, it would be extra stressful. We as your fans will wait as long as you need. Just hope for your sake that you can get yourself back online soon…
Hey there Brian.
” I think it’s fair for us to expect you….”
No. It’s not. Cram your entitlement up your tight little pucker.
How long have you been a Patreon, Brennon?
Brennon Brunet: STFU you TURD! We would all appreciate if you would kindly go drown yourself. Thanks.
Really, it’s like no one actually read Brian’s response to Brennon. As it is his website and his comic, shouldn’t his opinion count for something?
See my response to “Nachojones” above.
I read it. But here’s the thing – Brian can accept the non-constructive criticism, but that still doesn’t make it constructive.
If you read it, you didn’t understand it.
-shrugs-. If I’m making the stressful time worse for Brian, then I apologise for that.
But you insulting me because of YOUR preference for how things should be conducted is what, exactly?
“If you read it, you didn’t understand it”.
Take all the time ya need. Though I gotta say, the longer you leave Emma up there, the more we are gonna want this to be a thing…
Perhaps a Frazetta-style painting of Emma ‘playing the cello’ atop a pile of robot skulls…
P.S.
The internet doesn’t run on Patreon, fairy farts, and strawberry douche.
It doesn’t run on Troll blood either but I’d be will to give it a try.
Long live d20 monkey! We haven’t given up yet! Greatest comic ever made.
Hope things can get sorted out soon. I’m really digging Karthun as a setting, can’t want to see more
take the time you need friend, we will all be here when you are back up and running.
I think we’re missing something obvious here.
Clearly, this is Dove’s revenge for what happened during the Dungeon Run story arc.
Damn him.
So, would the shadowy figure in the limo be Bill Gates or the un-dead Steve Jobs (not sure what type of computer or device Brian generally uses)?
Exactly!
Actually it could be Steven Hawkins, he’s done Shadowy figure before…
I’m not sure if it’ll help, but I’ve got an old tower sitting around gathering dust. It’s about six years old, but if you need it I can get it out to you.
Keep up the good fight man.
Best wishes and all,
Animus
well… it’s written on the comic…
I hope you’re alright, Brian!
I MISS YOU AND YOUR WONDERFULNESS!!!!!!
Hey Brian, just a quick question… What do you need? Hard drives? Memory? CPU/MOBO?
I mean, I’m sure I’m not the only one with spare, almost new parts kicking around.
I know you’re not one for charity, but if I can help out, I will.
LOL crowdsourcing Brians cmputer glitch fix. . .that would be awesome!
just checking in, remember if you need help you can let your fan base know and we will see what we can do.
Sending good thoughts your way!
haa haaa Raging crowd .. . haa haa

Take your time, man. Life happens.
He got over it but was bummed that he lost his druid.
love your work ignore the haters keep on trucken
