He did do that prayer to his god, a god like that has been known to open locks now and then when a follower asks for help.. However I really don’t think that’s the case unfortunately. Some items however have been known to be sentient…. Those items can sometimes control the environment around them when they sense someone that they want to be their new bearer. They’ve even been known to manipulate their surroundings in order to let that new bearer gain access to them despite what those around them may want.
Totally reminds me of this comic. That moment when you realise that you picked the same night to hit your target as someone worse than you in every way.
