Vault of Deknar: Part Seventy
Chapter: Season Seven
Same.
I considered delaying this 0ne, as it feels like following the election it could have a double-meaning. Then I realized I am fine with that.

Damn it, love this comic, but after last night, the sadness level is overwhelming.
To me, the sadness level was the previous update. This one…not so much.
Maybe I’m just numb right now.
Its like they are watching last night’s election returns.
Yep that was my thoughts too..I fit in with that group knowing the players as we do I weep with them.
I weep like the players as well, both for the election results and for the fate of Deyla.
I am okay with double meaning as well… all the sad feels…
I can’t help but notice Brett is not in the shot… I am just waiting for his comment. Classic Brett, or will he go the other way?
Good eye, even better question.
Oh Patt…. you clever! Hmm… *Here comes Brett to save the day* gulp
I think Brett will walk over, looking all stoic for the first panel or two, and then start crying as hard as the rest of them. I’m not sure why I think it’s going to happen that way, but it just feels right.
Now that the next one has come out, I think you were pretty close there.
I love how the group gets invested with their characters.
Also, I absolutely love Carlos. He fits so well and brings so much to the group.
Have you ever cried this hard over a character you played for one session though? 😛
Yes.
I think it’s less the character death…which it might be…and more the story of sacrifice. But yeah…when you’re really in to the RP, it affects you.
Yeup. One shot larps and one shot tabletops can be as much, if not more, painful than long sessions.
Also it wasn’t just one session. This is number 2 I think?
Good point.
Plus I they wrote up quite the elaborate Backstory of the 5 Characters. Wich actually tied into the Adventure/was the Adventure hook. That also affects it.
Ugh, now you’ve got me ugly-crying too…
But is it really the end? *Dun dun dun*
Ironically, I almost wondered if you would do a semi political intermission or something, but this is good… painfully painfully good…
Brent is probably just around like “Wimps…let me use that ability and save Dayla and the day”
Aww, this one kinda killed the moment for me. Not that there’s anything wrong with the page, but I forgot who played whom. Going back to jog my memory took me out of the feeling.
Hmm, maybe we need both a cast (of players) and a cast (of characters) page…
Working on it (along with a new site) for 2017.
Noice!
Did Brett vote Trump?!
Hell no.
Why would Santa vote trump? Such a silly.
it’s just a cosmic restructure by a God level being…. sheese we have all been there. Man up boys, grab your dice and finish this session, she’s not “gone” she’s just having an attitude adjustment, in a lava pit, all this was expected.
Also an Altitude adjustment.
Because she’s sinking….
>are you pandering or virtue signaling here? its such a fine line sometimes.
First off, capitalization. Second of all, congratulations, you have the vocabulary of a first-year philosophy major. But if anyone is “virtue signaling”, it’s you for making assumptions about the author’s intent being to pander. He even said that his explicit intention not to do that, and that’s why he considered delaying it.
But here’s the facts; people are upset. People are scared because (and I’m not being overdramatic here, news stories have already surfaced in the past few days showing this) with these results? The hateful candidate won, so that must mean the hate is justified. So people are going to go out and be angry, violent, and toxic towards their fellow man. People have already been assaulted by people from both sides. It’s going to be chaos.
That’s why the dual meaning makes sense. Because it’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to be upset. And making a comic showing people reacting to that is not pandering. Compassion for those who have very real reasons to be afraid for their well being is not “virtue signaling”. Don’t make assumptions.
People were upset and scared 8 years ago, yet we never saw similar justifications or demands for patience or understanding offered at that time. Instead, people were simply told to “get over it and move on”. Why are the fears of some now more valid than those of others in the past?
There really is no need for the mass hysteria and hyperbole, and there is no justification for feeding it any further, but that is what each and every comment on the internet and in the media telling people “it’s ok to be scared” is doing. You are claiming there is justifiable reason to be truly frightened, and that assurance only frightens people more. To borrow classic internet wisdom, “stop feeding the trolls.”
As far as validity, it may have something to do with the fact that the president elect promised to, among other things, jail his competitor once he was elected, repeal healthcare legislation that thousands depend on, repeal trade deals that dozens of nations depend on, begin a nearly 2,000 mile long construction project to isolate the nation from one of it’s neighbors (that he claims the nation it inconveniences will for some reason pay for), and essentially repeal the separation of church and state.
Other than that, the party he represents blocked the current president from appointing a new Judge to the Supreme Court to replace Scalia for almost a year, despite the fact the Judge was a known Moderate rather than a Liberal. The Supreme Court has been heavily Conservatively biased since President Reagan stacked the deck by appointing three Conservative judges. Before that time, the Supreme Court was quite balanced between Conservative, moderates, and Liberals and presidents who appointed Judges cared about that balance. The Conservative Supreme Court is the reason that things such as SuperPac’s exist and that people who possess more money essentially have more freedom of speech rights than people with very little money.
In essence, the fear feels more valid to some because after 8 years of the Republican party question the president’s birthplace, religion, and mere eligibility to be president, as well as actively blocking any attempt at bipartisanship, they are now in control and have shown a concerning level of comfort disregarding issues of importance to vulnerable groups of people.
I realize this may not be needed and is Brian wants to delete this post, I understand. Apologies if I overstep.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. You are citing incomplete information, statements taken out of context, and fragments of soundbites as if they were whole and complete fact. My earlier comment still stands: if you keep feeding the hysteria, you are part of the problem.
Kinda strange looking back through the archives so long ago. Refreshing in a away though.
Why are they crying? He played the character for like two sessions. Who does that?
many people. fro exemple, all those are not campaigners can get attached to some well written character even for a one shot. It’s all in your relying capacity. Otherways no film ever would make somebody cry for someone we barely knew for an hour or so…
