Vault of Deknar: Part Forty
Chapter: Season Seven
I have been pretty excited to introduce the Coin Wraith for a while.
Oh, don’t worry, Deyla isn’t dead.

HOVER-TEXT: The theories about this thing being the actual rug were awesome but I have pulled that trick before. Your heads are in the right place though.
You could say… you pulled the rug out from under our expectations.
I see at least two ways:
One is that the lighting effect on the ground on page 38 was actually the rug in front of the door (they literally stood on it).
The other is that this artifact has “some assembly required” written on it. It rests with the blood of that god. Not “the blood is on the rug”.
Maybe whatever one spills the blood on will become the rug? Maybe the rug will come alive as a coin wrath after a while? Maybe that wraith bleeds when you kill it?
We will see 🙂
PENNY FOR YOUR SOULS
Coming from a re-eyed penguin that is obviously possessed, that statement is surprisingly creepy…
Imagining it speaks with a British accent is even better.
No not just a British accent, an evil Sir Ian Maclom one.
very cross indeed
*throws a nickel*
Keep the change!
spoilers! 😛
This is why you take Improved Steal.
ATTACK THE WEAK POINT FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE!
IT DOESN’T HAVE A WEAK POINT!
Yes it does. A character with martial arts knowledge can flip it.
i’m gonna guess coin wraiths are created when the spirit of a dead person possess the coins left on there corpse to pay the ferryman
I love your monster design & mythology, Brian. I really wish I had been here for your Karthun Kickstarter project, because, even without having an RPG group and not having RP’d in years, it’d still be fun reading all of your material. I’m a sucker for good world-building. 🙂
My favorite monster so far? The Chain Lord. I think the rest are incredibly cool (this coin wraith seems scary awesome), but The Chain Lord just simply ROCKS.
Sent by the mother to bring back another!
Can’t wait to get my hands on Karthun.
Brian, may I remind you how much we all love you.
That is all
Not a rug? Damn, it really pulled the dungeon room together.
Here’s the coin-wraith’s (un?)natural enemy: http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/scoobydoo/images/c/c8/Mummy_of_Ankha.png/revision/latest?cb=20130928103210
What WOULD a Groin Wraith be like?
Not Safe For Work.
Comprehensively.
Take a penny, leave a penny. Or your soul, withe or.
Can we get it’s stats? For… reasons…
Yes you can. Next week okay?
Yeeeeesssss. Goooooooood.
Yay!
Squeeeeeeee!!! I love new and unique monsters. I CANNOT WAIT for the Karthun book!!!
Oh, you want a peso me? Got a yen to fight? To be franc, I’ll show you no quarter!
FYI: Groin wraiths are formed from the daytime emissions of Vampires….
Hey, Brian, do you mind if I use the Coin Wraith in a campaign I’m running?
Not at all! That’s a big part of why I introduce these new monsters.
When you do a print edition, this is a no-apostrophe “its”. 🙂
Is it? “It’s” is a possessive, isn’t it? I thought I understood the rules well enough, but you’ve got me wondering, now.
“Its” and “his” are related. You’d probably never make the mistake of writing “hi’s” when you want to say “the thing that belongs to him.” If you’re unsure, just try the substitution in your head. For example, the sentence in question reads like “A decomposing face with glowing eyes casts [hi’s] gaze toward you…through you.”
