The extreme of this in cartooning is when a character’s expressive eyes are actually on the surface of the glasses, and when you see the character slightly from the side, you see that the actual face has no eyes at all. I can’t recall the specific character, but I remember it creeping me out as a kid.
Yo may need to go reread the whole arc where Mel broke the HELL out of Sam’s heart and then her dickbag roid-raging boyfriend stomped the everloving Crap outta him Which triggered a “Darth Samious the GM†Arc as well.
But this is kind of what I don’t get. Since the events of the Evil Sam game the following has happend:
Sam verbally put down Grey using the Narrative
He got along with Mel perfectly well in his own game and in the IGS
Same met and got together with Amy
So it seems to me that Sam has moved on from the drama remarkably well. Yes, she did announce she was leaving the table by email which is kind of dick move (thought one I myself have used) and then stopped contact, but the group has picked up Jeannie, Dallas, and Carlos as more players.
Now yes there’s already turmoil in Sam’s life in dealing with the store fallout with this brother. But the single act of Mel making contact with Sam is I think overstated
Sam already pass his crush of Mel. (Already having a girlfriend is enouf) Darth Sam is bury 6 ft underand filled with salt. The only think I see is the Trevor’s Booty Calls with Sam’s Bro And Mel is not yet discovered that (She have more likely to find it). How I hate the Inter-Family Fights in Fiction and IRL.
In fairness, Sam is struggling with depression, and so while a well-adjusted Sam might not really have any problem being in contact with Mel, depressed Sam might. (Although nothing as bad as Count Grudgulaâ„¢, I daresay.)
Poor Sam. I feel like his mental health is analogous to a weak swimmer trying to stay afloat…he sinks often, but always manages to break the surface before it’s too late. For someone like that, it only takes a small wave to upset the balance, and while Mel is not a tsunami anymore, she’s definitely gonna rock a few boats.
I, too, would make the awkward excuse and bravely run away.
I’m inclined to think Charlie has consistently been over-skittish about Sam-and-the-ladies ever since the Count Grudgula incident – witness his panicked attempt to cover up what he knew about Mel’s departure, versus Sam’s rather less-than-dramatic, if entirely reasonable, disappointment with the manner in which she communicated same. (Indeed, it’s worth noting that Sam doesn’t seem broken up or upset with her leaving, per se.)
I’d rather see what Jeannie thinks about this situation. Not only do I trust her judgement, but in her professional capacity she’s well-placed to have insight about people’s character.
If only there was a way for her to contact people online so this wouldn’t be awkward, too bad social networking doesn’t yet exists (sorry, couldn’t resist)
I’d be stoked if Mel returning led to a good arc with Amy. I feel we need more Amy time she’s such a cute character and I’d love to see her maybe have a little tension with Mel and have to stand up for herself a bit.
It’s been years, and Sam is happy and grown a lot. I get that it’s more interesting narratively for that not to be the case, but I’d like to think everyone involved would handle things all right.
I think Sam would be (mostly) ok seeing Mel again, he has Amy and it would be good to see her again. I look forward to some interaction between them that has a bit of undercurrent 🙂
Mighty Pee Water! Nice diversion, Charlie!!
I think the bus is too small! I think it needed to be a double-decker at least.
… or look like something out of a Mad Max movie, maybe,
Next stop, HOLY FUCKING SHIT Pkwy.
At the intersection with ANGST Ave.
Finally stopping in NOPENOPENOPE Town.
With the next route departing at Fuck-This-Shit-O-Clock.
“It would be great to reconnect”
*WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP!*
RED ALERT!
I REPEAT, RED ALERT, THIS IS NOT A GODDAMN DRILL!
I’ve only JUST NOTICED that the highlights in Charlie’s glasses are expressive as anyone else’s eyes.
And now I need to go back through the archives to see how long that’s been going on!
That was saying the last page.
I pick my moments, but I have used that for a long time.
Holy crap! Never noticed that until I read your comment!
Nice \m/

Someone can tell me what is wrong about Mel joining again to the group? I s going to be a fight Mel vs Trevor or what?

Mighty Pee Water is the name my watersports-themed power metal Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band.
“Its pronounced Dra-ma-tun”, exclaims every long-term resident of Drama Town

Im excited to see Mel and Amy interact I cant remmber if they have but Amy seems like the type to side step the drama and wirk it out
IIRC they were both part of the Call of Cthulhu game, where Amy met Sam.
No good can come of this. I just do not trust Mel. I may have issues with exes.
