… I wonder if Lee will step in the way, to save Trevor? He’s going to _need_ a pretty big Moment of Redemption to come back from having sided with Clive in the first place …
That would fit, although it’ll be a big moment. Up until now, the stakes in the mundane, mortal world of d20 monkey have not been life or death. Killing off Lee brings the whole strip into larger than life struggles.
I’m not sure I get what you’re saying. Are you saying the stakes are raised because it’s a “normal” person that would die? Because we’ve had character deaths before in this series. Hell, Clive has killed people on panel before. And Sam tried to use the Narrative as a weapon in his own store. Death has been in the stakes for a looong time.
We’ve had deaths in the magical holiday arcs. I don’t think anybody has died in the world of normal mortals before. Am I forgetting someone?
For sure the two worlds have been connected through the main cast, but I feel like there has been a bit of separation which has been slowly getting more and more blurred as the cast gets pulled further into the world of magic.
For those of us who came into D20Monkey family part way, havent had time to start over at episode 1 in the archives, and have no idea whats going on… Is there an original arc buried in the archives that would reference this new baddy? Or is everyone on the same page of WhoTF is this?
I’m gonna be That Guy and recommend you go into the backlog now. This whole final arc is just going to be callbacks to old plot threads, from what we’ve seen so far.
There is a vile, little space in my heart that is so giddy right now. When this guy was beaten in the Court of Seasons, I hoped he’d be back for revenge. And the inevitable ass-kicking he’d bring upon himself. But mostly the revenge.
I’m honestly hoping Trevor gets vaporized. Lee getting killed, or jumping in to save Trevor, are both so overdone and obvious. I really like Trevor, but it would be so much more impactful to see this actually push into real consequences territory.
Brian, you have rendered some amazing energy projections in the past, but the way you frame Clive in panel one is just insane. Star Sapphire wishes she could rock this color this hard.
Backstory has been posted for Clive several times already in other comments and yeah, if you’ve never read the comic up till now you’d have no idea who he is… but FFS at least try to find out before commenting like this and implying that it’s someone else’s fault that you don’t know what’s going on?
Fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu…
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuu…..
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu…….
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu…..
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu…….
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu…
ck.
Thank you, wilddeath. It was a dirty job but somebody had to do it.
Well…
fuck
Clive has gained some warts since we’ve last seen him… should stop rubbing toads on his head!
I’m sure the toads would appreciate that.
Oh don’t do Trevor like this. Please. Not like this.
Related, please put a hat on, Clive.
I’m betting it’s Lee.
I hope it’s Lee.
Not in the pretty, pretty face!

Well, he’s in the pink so to speak.

I believe this is the last time we saw Clive, unless I missed something. He’s been busy. https://d20monkey.com/comic/christmas-2015-epilogue-part-two/
This is a delivery on a package we’ve been tracking since 2015: https://d20monkey.com/comic/elsewhere-part-one/
There’s an ar-Clive?
That’s 1, Fred. 1.

Fucking Called It!
Everyone called it.
Well damn.
I don’t want to speculate too much, but I see tragedy in our future.
Well, damn. I was right.
Spank my ass and call me Gladys. I thought it was Clive, but I figured he was turned into one of the monsters.
At this point, we need another magic user.
Hi Gladys.
Dangit, this is the second D&D related comic strip to leave me with a single word possible main character killing cliffhanger.

It huuuuuuurts so GOOD!
Darth Higgins!

Oblivion doesn’t have to mean death. Could be a mind-wipe or something insidious like that.
DOES THAT LOOK.LIKE THE SORT OF SORCERER WHO WIPES MINDS?
I mean, he’s given me more of a Warlock vibe, since previous strips seem to indicate he’s gained some sort of patron.
As to the second part, I could see them wiping minds…off the pavement anyway.
He doesn’t even look like he wipes his own behind.
All I can think of right now is the line from Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.
“Beware, Oblivion is at hand.”
Pfft…He looks like a bastard love child of the Aincent one from Dr.Strange and a Christmas Elf.
I’m honestly hoping Trevor gets vaporized. Lee getting killed, or jumping in to save Trevor, are both so overdone and obvious. I really like Trevor, but it would be so much more impactful to see this actually push into real consequences territory.
If the sacrificial (potentially redeeming) death of the brother of the main character isn’t real consequences territory and overdone….jesus.

Definitely some Thaal Sinestro vibes
I have a feelin thats not a kill attack. but the attack that converted Dove. so ether Trevor or Lee will get transformed
I got a diagnosis from my doctor.
That cliffhanger caused my body to react a certain way. The suspense. It’s killing me.
Please…won’t you help?
Is the Evil Chrismas Elf!?!?!? Or an Evil DM!?!?!
You always bring a gun to a knife fight.
Who? Are we supposed to know this guy?
