Ok, I had a bit of a “derp” in relation to this as well, but I guess it’s a Groundhog Day joke? There’s a superstition that if a/the Groundhog leaving it’s sees it’s shadow (on Groundhog Day)- it’ll retreat back into the den and it’ll be winter for six more weeks.
Sometimes, ya just gotta do what ya gotta do. And sometimes, what ya gotta do is fake a really awkward social situation involving poop in order to get the hell out of Dodge.
Yeah… It’s probably too common. On some sites I have a more unique identifier with numbers on the end, but never bothered setting it up for this site.
But I also understand the confusion of asking “is that me?”
The poop is the groundhog. It was coming out (which is a problem if you were just going to a urinal (his earlier comment implied taking a piss)) went back in, but left a “shadow” before retreating fully.
The implication is that he pooped himself a bit, and needs to go home to finish the poop and get changed (lies, but the sort that someone wouldn’t question, especially if you word it the way he did)

The joke mainly is a euphemism for prairie-dogging (needing to poop badly).
