Someone Get Carlos Some Water
Chapter: Season Eight
It’s true. Carlos is going to be running the next in-game session for the group (assuming he doesn’t pass out first).
What is he running? Well, you’ll have to wait until next week to find out.

HOVER-TEXT: You can do this Buddy
That’s about how I felt my first time running a game.
I’m the exact opposite. Prior to the game I’m all “OK, let’s make sure I’ve got this down. I’m ready… I got this…” Immediately after the players leave, I’m Monday-morning QB’ing myself. It’s rough.
I Monday Morning QB myself in the middle of the game.
Dito. I prefer not to be GM just for that reason.
Dallas be like: “No pressure”
Carlos, you poor darling. You can do it! First session jitters happen to everyone. They still happen for me whenever I start a new campaign, and I’ve been GMing on and off for a while now.
Breath… Breath…. Breath….
I wonder what they’re going to play, will it be Dead Iron (and in front of the author, no less) or did Carlos get his copy of Karthun before me to?
Carlos so far has definitely proven to be a guy who really gets into his role play. He’s going to make one heck of a DM.
Agreed.
Carlos strikes me as the type who is in a blue funk-and then SNAPS into Awesome GM Mode as soon as the dice hit the table.
is it a clue that they said GM not DM usually my group only says dm for dnd and GM for others like gurps or different games
Please be Shadowrun, please be Shadowrun, please be Shadowrun….
Ohgawsh yes, please! Cyberpunk in general!
Supers adventure?
I’d bet cash money it’s Supers
I think Carlos needs more than water. Looks like some vodka is required.
that’s how I was inwardly right before running my 1st game. Then the alcohol kicked in…..
I am super excited about this arc. I was just wondering the other day if it would be a different cast member’s turn in the DM seat.
We believe in you Carlos! Even if you don’t believe in yourself.
“Now is not the time to believe in yourself! Believe in me who believes in you!”
“I really didn’t think she could do it.”
😀
Someone better get Carlos a big ok’ Bag of Holding for all the barfing that will occur.
Oop looks like he rolled a 1 and botched full panic on the random table
ooo, wasn’t expecting this.
But after seeing his awesome character concepts and RPing, I get the feeling this will be large quantities of epic fun 🙂
“On a D20 roll, how excited are you right now?!”
Kind of looks like he rolled 21 and thinks he just broke the universe 😉 hehe.
I’d recognize those books anywhere. He’s running “Verdant: the Greenening.”
He’s 300% Nervouscited.
*peers*

I remember this moment. its a moment that anyone dreams of till they actually do it. At least he’s doing it among friends. It’s a lot easier when you do and makes it more enjoyable.
He’s doing better than I did. I had a bad case of “Aspiring Writer GM” and had like 400 pages of miscellaneous bullshit no one cared about that I was determined to shoehorn in somehow.
The exact opposite. it was a case of: let’s game, who’s gonna be the GM? And everyone else: nope not me. So I took the reins and improvised miscellaneous bullshit no one cared about including myself. The better part: no one wasn’t expecting much more so we had fun.
To this day, I can count on the fingers the time I had more than twenty minutes to build a scenario.
I barely remember my first GM session of D&D. I was in JR. High, it was my buddies, I recall no fear (the adventure was so os bad though lol).
Fast forward to me at 29 years old, I’m seasoned as Hell. I’ve run games for my home group for decades, run a fair number of con games, and introduced plenty of other adults to RPGs. Never felt nervous. However, the first RPG I ever ran for the kids at the library I volunteer at? Shaking so hard my dice bag rattled ;P
Inside Carlos’ head: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
True.
Forget water. Xanax or Ativan.
YOU CAN DO EET CARLOS,MAKE SOME ROCKS FALL ON THEIR PANSY ASSES!!
He hit a 20+5 on his ‘fall down, go into fetal position and cry silently’-Skill. I’m impressed, my max stat on this is only +3
I remember my first time DMing for a group. I was using a homebrewed system and setting that was (and still is) mostly crafted from a bed of untested ideas and rule of cool. I wanted the combat to feel brutal and unforgiving, so I decided to make the first quest into a suicide mission intended to shock the players in the attempt to make them play cautiously and tactically. I had played with this group many times on the other side of the screen, so I knew they rarely played as a team, most of them being used to playing more roleplay-centric campaigns.
Turns out I scaled the difficulty a little too high. I planned the first encounter so everyone would be fighting 1v1 against fast, glass cannony, imps. The imps had a scripted first turn advantage (they were under an invisibility spell and ambushed from short range), and were supposed to deal a lot of damage spread evenly through the party, but get killed in 1-2 turns. Unfortunately, I made them a little too powerful; I have a homebrewed rule where if you successfully dodge an attack by a high enough margin, you can make a counterattack. Anyone can do this, but I made the mistake of giving small creatures a bonus to dodge rolls.
The first combat encounter was almost a TPK. No one died, but it was close; two people ended the fight at 1hp, and only one person had enough health left to survive another attack-counterattack cycle.
Thankfully, I also made the demonologist (wizard) class quite overpowered as well, he used the magical energy stored within the imp corpses to barter with a friendly greater demon and heal the party. He then proceeded to do this after every combat encounter for the rest of the quest, turning the suicide mission into a cakewalk. Well, most of the party still died at the end, but it seems resurrection fixes that quite easily.
That happens sometimes but look at what you did. NOW HE’S CRYING, JERK!
Tbh He looks like hes gonna puke again…….Poor thing…Its Ok sweetie you can do it!!
Looks about a Nat 1. I totes understand that feeling.
He should run IKRPG (Iron Kingdoms). I love the system, but it’s not d20 based (it’s 2d6), so maybe not.
Has Carlos gained 20 kgs since we first met him?
That would be me, without a doubt…
Oh man, I’d love to see some Cypher system pop up here, Numenera or The Strange.
First game I ran was for a group of 8 people because several people invited friends and I was too big a pussy to say no. It was a shit show but everyone seemed to have a good time.
I’m thinking… Paranoia. 😀
Oh man, Dallas, you’re SUCH an asshole! XD
Milking his fears like the Game Master you are.
I love it!
I just assume I’m going to be garbage.
But I do that with everything in life.
