In all fairness… It pretty much already is. Larry’s made it clear that HE, at least, makes frequent trips to our side of reality for various reasons. Mostly booty calls, but he did make a pact with Dallas at some point to initially get her games on the market. Klaus had never hidden his rampages, so people would have seen him. The need for secrecy has NEVER been stressed before even before it was revealed that Brett was Santa’s son, starting us on the slippery slope of magic. And one last thing that, from what I gather, not many people actually know. There’s another webcomic out there called Zombie Roomie. The title’s fairly self-explanatory as it’s about a regular guy and a zombie living together. It was confirmed by Brian himself that these two separate comics take place in the same world/universe. In THAT webcomic, the regular guy is dating a werewolf, knows a witch, knows Frankenstein’s Monster and his extended family, knows that creature from the black lagoon, had played poker with a vampire who later opened up a bar exclusively staffed by paranormal entities, was haunted by a ghost who accidently got brought back to life in a hobo’s body, had his hippie ex turn into a demon lawyer, got reaped, got brought back, and sometimes supervises visits between his friend’s son (who is a spawn of Cthulu) and a demon princess. His girlfriend is being stalked by HER ex who is a wannabe Van Helsing, the zombie roomie regularly dons tights to fight crime as ‘zombie man’, and as of the current plotline there is currently a mass zombie outbreak. This happened shortly after it was discovered that the normal roommate was a clone who was a proof of concept in an experiment to provide cloned humans for intelligent zombies and the cloning was on the news. THIS was after the zombie community came out as a thing that existed and petitioned for rights to marry the living. And that’s not even HALF the paranormal shit that they’ve gotten into that’s exposed magic to the public. So… Yeah. There’s really no secret to blow and no masks to pull off. Magic’s pretty much an open secret by this point.
The TL:DR for this is “I read another comic, let me tell you about it….at length”
Also, spoilers if you’ve never looked at ZR before…
Also. I disagree. There’s a very MiB feel that Brian puts on near the end of one of these. Like the first Christmas arc…they covered it up. I’d bet the world behind the curtain is pretty good at making people forget about these little incursions.
I realized that right before I posted it, but by that point I had put a decent amount of time into it and decided to post it anyway. But I do apologize for spoiling certain events in Zombie Roomie for anyone who might have wanted to read it, or where in the process of doing so. And you do make a fair point about an MIB feel now that I’ve gone back and looked that arc over again. Maybe it’s less like an open secret and more of a… Partially cracked one? The general public would have no knowledge of the supernatural, but friends/family of those with ties would be ‘in’ on it due to the difficulty in continually reigning them in?
That’s kind of you to offer. I’m not really a discord guy myself, but a bunch of my friends have been trying to get me to get on it more often. So yeah, I’d love a link to their discord. Thank you!
What makes more sense, that Carlos would knowingly mess with a friend or that magic is actually real? Now if it was Trevor, on the other hand, I’d absolutely believe he was messing with me.
We have not! But between the “let’s wrap up or bring back a bunch of plot arcs” angle Brian seems to be going for at the moment, and the re-appearance of Donny during breakfast at the pancake house, I have a sinking feeling where he is – and how the rest of the gang is going to find out about his relationship with Lee…
Honestly I wonder if its just a ‘known’ secret in this world as the usual question comes up for me of parents asking which of them bought the santa gift
The gang has a rather glaring OpSec problem, I see.
Brian, bite the bullet and make it an unmasked world. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!

Man…doubling down just makes it worse.
Gonna watch you from now on, Ticker.
Keep your nose clean.
Kinda not cool to spoil a comic like that dude.
I know, and I deeply apologize.
I LOVE zombie roomie and I am actually pretty good friends with the creator john he’s an awesome dude they also have a discord if you are interested?
That’s kind of you to offer. I’m not really a discord guy myself, but a bunch of my friends have been trying to get me to get on it more often. So yeah, I’d love a link to their discord. Thank you!
I love that Jeanie’s first instinct is not “Carlos is taking the piss” but rather “Magic is real”. What a sweet bean. :’)
hooo boy…
I love Carlos, but Brett and Jeanie really need to work on their employee security training.
I bet training seminars come with awesome snacks at the North Pole.
They have snacks in all four food groups!
be fair who wouldn’t have had that reaction

…have we seen Trevor at all during this arc?
We have not! But between the “let’s wrap up or bring back a bunch of plot arcs” angle Brian seems to be going for at the moment, and the re-appearance of Donny during breakfast at the pancake house, I have a sinking feeling where he is – and how the rest of the gang is going to find out about his relationship with Lee…
Santa mantle bearers ho ho ho. Carlos bearer of anxiety oh oh no!
Every time I think Josie has reached her (?) peak, she gets even better.
That’s totally how I’d react.
See, now I want a comic about Charlie’s apprenticeship…
To be fair, there’s enough folks at that party who know it’s easy to assume the rest do.
Honestly I wonder if its just a ‘known’ secret in this world as the usual question comes up for me of parents asking which of them bought the santa gift
Over in ‘El Goonish Shive’, magic was revealed to be real. The only ‘secret’ is in the mechanics behind it.
Judging by the expression in that last panel, I think they broke Josie… 🙂
You would think roleplayers would be better at keeping this quiet. 😉
