Given where they are, a TPK might be the point. The adventure may not actually start until they’re dead. I feel like that would be a really solid head fake from Brett.
I was thinking that might be a sort of thing that Brett would do. Some sort of head fake ‘hardcore crawl’ that is actually an illusion or some sort of other secret hidden. “You don’t die but get trapped and then have to escape”, or similar.
First time commenting, because I’ve got to say I absolutely love how you displayed the initiative at the top of the page there! Very intuitive and easy for me to understand and look back at for reference as a reader, and it looks great too!
At 0hp, in 5E, you are Incapacitated …. and bleeding out. You make a Death Save each round. If you fail three, you’re dead. If you succeed twice, you stabilize, and remain incapacitated until you receive some healing (including natural healing after enough time elapses).
You actually need three successes to stabilize. But hits against you while you’re in this state is an automatic failure (and a crit is two), so what worries me for Annabelle is that a lot of monsters that swallow in 5e do damage at the start of your turn if you’re still stuck.
Hey Brian, first of all; love your work and the comic.
Second, I’d love to support you but unfortunatly my country doesn’t use creditcards much so I will be unable to join your patreon (also because I’m a student and don’t have a lot of spending money). Is there a change the Magebound will be available somewhere I can pay for it seperatly? (via paypal or ideal) The same goes for maps btw, I’d love to get a chance to see and/or buy them.
Keep up the amazing work, can’t wait to see where this arc goes.
This really isn’t Annabelle’s day, is it? Trapped in an underground ruin, nearly squished by a wall trap, now vore’d by this abomination.
No punches were pulled….I wonder if this ark will end quickly, in a TPK….
Well, she’s not dead yet – just swallowed. Hopefully if the rest of the party acts quickly, they can get her out of there…

I didn’t even consider this, but that would be pretty amazing.

That is an EFFING BRILLIANT insight! Kudos!
Tastes great and less filling!
In Shattered Honor, cookie dough eats you!
Ah, “swallowed hole”. I remember that back in 3.5, hoo boy. Makes me want to put it n my 5e campaign, surprise any complacent players
*whole
And Swallow mechanic is already in 5e. Here is the list of swallowing monsters for your convenience: Giant Frog (MM, CR 1/4), Giant Toad (MM, CR 1), Banderhobb (VGtM, CR 5), Froghemoth (VGtM, CR 10), Neothelid (VGtM, CR 13), Behir (MM, CR 11), Remorhaz (MM, CR 11), Skyswimmer (GGtR, CR 13), Wurm (GGtR, CR 14), Purple Worm (MM, CR 15), Astral Dreadnought (sort of swallow, MToF, CR 21), Kraken (MM, CR 23), Tarrasque (MM, CR 30).
i see a K from Men In Black coming……
Maybe. But that belly was full of skeletons, and I find it hard to believe none of them had sharp objects in their possession.

Is this the type of system where 0 hp means instant death? Or is there a grace period where someone can be saved?

Ah, right! Silly me, I somehow got it into my head that Karthun was a homebrew system rather than 5E. X)
‘Tis but a scratch.
But she could be alive in there and hack her way out.
Since Brett is the DM and not a player, I feel like I need to say it…
GRUDGEY McGRUDGE-MONSTER!
This turn of events is a little hard to SWALLOW. If she’s gonna get out of this she may need to CHEW ON IT FOR AWHILE.
yEAH…..I’ll see my self out.

My understanding is that patreon accepts paypal…just throwing that out there
Yeah it does but only if you have a creditcard linked to your paypal account :/
