This always used to happen when I was DMing. And the critters always seemed to do something nasty then. It was so common that I’d sometimes start singing “I’m still Standing†as the combat finished so all the players knew what had happened.

So would the swallowed folks take any damage from an attack of this type? That’s a lot of burningness.

I’m curious – most of these rolls I assume to be scripted (and there’s nothing wrong with that!), but do you ever actually roll for any of them?
I can picture the results of trying that particular style of storytelling lying somewhere between last panels here and here.
That would be fantastic as a final quest for them… letting the dice decide.
If he had my luck with dice rolls, the adventure would be over in only two pages then! 😉
