I had this same thought! Sign of a solid roleplayer. Though admittedly it could be some typical-PC-heroism shining through, I think in this case it’s a nuanced response. Having weighed all the available strategic options, she has decided that what makes sense for the -character- is to bodycheck the cage like an adrenaline-fueled gorilla.
Yeah, the sign of a skilled player is when they discard their own personalities in favor of what their character would do. For sure, constructing and running a character that’s basically you in a wizard suit would be a lot easier.
I’m actually impressed that the bars gave, even just a little.
That suggests that breaking the thing open might be achievable. (Although it proves nothing about whether or not breaking it mid-combat would be a *good* thing for Gul’Ren.)
Burg is actually a fighter, not a barbarian but I can see how that use of “rage” could lead to confusion. I went back in and changed the word to “anger” just to make it all clear.
🙂 I just wasn’t sure either way, since we haven’t seen their character sheets. (Which is a thing I’d love to see, by the by, for all of the current characters, someday.)
Also, of course, it’s possible even with Advantage to get a pair of crappy rolls – a 13, and something not even as good as a 13. Lord knows it’s happened to me a time or two …
I suspected it was not a class-related rage based on how Brian depicted Carlos’ barbarian in the Dungeon Run arc. I don’t think barbarian rage leaves any room for doubt or subtlety in Karthun.
If I may ask then, when Burg was inside the Graveworm’s Jeanie said “First Burg RAGES” at the top of his turn (Shattered Honor 27 for reference), was that also an aesthetic thing?
The advantage came from the Guiding Bolt spell Calvis used, but I can see where that would also cause some confusion. I will go back in and make that a little more clear, but to be honest, if Burg survives this adventure and levels up, he should probably take a level in Barbarian.
*sigh*
I am going to miss stories like this SO MUCH.
I read the mouse over text and thought it said: Goodbye Burg… because obviously any attempts on the power source are going to be trapped.
Really nice to see Jeanie play Burg with the same protective instinct that many of Brett’s characters have shown whenever the chips are down.

We are family I got all the Dwellow bros with me!

Whoa. What happens in the game when Giant Hand Blocks the Beam?
… if Burg is actually Raging, then he gets _advantage_ on any Strength checks. Like, say, Athletics. 🙂

I can understand the confusion.

Err, the Graveworm’s stomach*
I wondered about that, too.
