Except fire damage is one of the most commonly resisted or outright immune damage types, for monsters anyway players not so much. And that thing is a metal construct so almost certainly has fire immunity
Athrogate would be good right about now. A dwarf fighter almost as good as Drizzt Do-Urden, wielding twin morning-stars enchanted to secrete rust monster juice from one, and oil of impact from the other.
Armor designed to contain a soul? What exactly was that cage for in the first place?
Be funny if Gul’ren vanished and then the armor stepped forward and said, “Hey, it’s me! Who’s up for me finally getting out of this hole and grabbing some drinks somewhere?”
I’m guessing it was stealing soul energy from Gul’ren (and probably his bound elemental too) to power the armour or whatever dark ‘thing’ lurks within it. Hence why he kept taking necrotic damage while the timer was running.
Also wondering if the armour might still be able to drain from him to heal/repair itself if damaged during battle, as long as he remains stuck in the cage.
Before even reading I was mumbling “Oh shit he worked in the green devil into the armor…” so yeah this is the reason for the season right here.
Brian, have you got this handsome gentleman statted up someplace? (or the encounter?)
I’m guessing a Shield Guardian, possibly modified or with just one hell of a spell stored in it.
I clench as a free action.
My buttocks are as one.
If Brian will forgive an old Altered Beast reference, “Welcome to your doom!”
so what happens if they re-direct the beams back at the cage and start a feedback loop?
Gul’ren explodes and stops taking any further damage from drain, though their pieces catch fire so that may cause some damage.
lol
… Heat metal would be great right about now. Just keep it going on him.

LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE

Looking forward to the epic showdown! 😀
Well, this is the part where it kills them.
