Shattered Honor – Part Seventy-Seven
Chapter: Season Ten
Characters: Trevor
It is a ROLLER COASTER OF EMOTION.
Programming Note: My normal schedule will resume on Friday, February 21, 2020. Pages have been a little bit spotty for the past two weeks, and that is the result of me working to bring two very large projects to a close. There was a time when I would just work 19-hour days to do everything, but I have learned that is a dangerous spiral, and while I work long hours, I do not destroy myself mentally and physically. I hope everyone can appreciate that.
With these projects wrapped up, normal operations will resume. Thank you all for your patience while I keep working to find some stability in life as a full-time cartoonist and freelance illustrator.
All those dice need to be melted into slag.
Pour encourager les autres, mais oui? 😀
Karma
Happy Valentine’s Day, Trevor!
Two 7s, eh.
thats the “i just rolled 2d20 and both were under 10” face
Hey, it’s better than the I just rolled 2d20 and they add up to less than 10″ face. I make that one a lot.
yea thats not a fun face
GAH! Leaving us hanging over a weekend!?!
To be honest, even though it would be immature, I would find it funny if Trevor rolled a 6 & 9 after asking not to be fucked.
Trevor, dear boy, one doesn’t simply roll the dice like that, not when there’s big drama, tension and excitement. The dice demands passion! Confidence! Emotion! Stand up. Shake’em vigorously. Up and down and to the sides. Maybe a flourish or a striking pose.
It may be superstition, but it’s superstitious fact.
I’m sorry, I laughed so hard at that last panel. On about three levels.
What weapon deals 4d8 damage and where can I get it for my character in my thursday game?
It’s a crit. There are loads of magic weapons that do 1d8 base + 1d8 magic damage.
The way I’ve normally seen crit damage rolled is to double the dice, then add modifiers. So Ufgren’s attacks usually deal 2d8+3 damage. But I’m not aware of any weapons that deal 2d8 worth of damage.
… however, a Wraith’s Life Drain attack deals 4d8+3 damage, so it’s possible that Ufgren is just a monster being run as a PC.
A Battlemaster Fighter with a warhammer that uses a superiority die would roll 4d8 on a crit.
Cleric level 8 adds divine strike for 4d8 and we have not seen a multi attack from Ulfgren correct me if I am wrong but that would raise the question of why no healing of other cleric, umm paladin level 11, Hunter conclave ranger level 3 once again no healing so any of these obvious ones are out then again Ufgren may be a monster stat block as we have not seen any class features as far as I recall
nah, could be a local variant but double damage is double the damage. You take a hard shot to something vital then that extra strength, or extra catchy bits are going to absolutely f.. things over. Not just give a wee bonus dice.
Ufgren is indeed a variant of a wraith that Charlie is playing for this adventure. Once the sessions wraps, I will be posting his stat block for everyone to use as well.
Man that face reminds me of my luck I was the last one standing against a boss who was faerie fired (5e) I have elven accuracy which grants me double advantage shot my bow got triple 1’s and TPK the boss had 5 hp left my modifier was a +4 (We were level 4)
Rule number 1 Trevor, you DO NOT challenge the dice in any way shape or form!
Yep. She’s doomed! 🙂
Do you roll actual dice while writing these parts and fit the story to match, or write the story with rolls included? Either way, it flows and acts just like some campaigns and adventures I’ve done, which is why it is so hard to really tell the difference!
There are times when I do. A lot of the big story beats are written for dramatic purposes, but actual dice rolls at my desk have determined the ebb-and-flow of stories.
I imagine two ‘1’s just got rolled which signals the appearance of the epic bar of soapy doom that was misplaced by the dungeon custodian, a unionized worker who was required to leave for the day to avoid any chance of overtime.
Ironically, Trevor’s character has a better weapon than using 2 normal daggers and still hasn’t unleashed it.
Trevor needs Red Passion color dice for luck. He is red color dice guy.
Trevor burned too much karma in the previous story arc, and now dice gods are making him pay the price
