Earlier in the dungeon, they found an Iron Flask – it’s kinda like a magic Pokeball. When you find one, there’s a 50% chance that there’s something inside already. Exactly what that something is is random, but it’s always some kind of extra-planar creature.
I’ve got a party member who’s been carrying around an Efreeti bottle for a few sessions now, waiting until we are desparate enough in a fight to risk opening it. 🙂
// Fuckballs. I did not plan for this. It’s not in my notes. What’s in the flask? //
“A dark smoke emerges from the flask, slowly coalescing into…” *grabs random mini from his tub* “An elder efreeti.”
// Phew //
Long ago I created an Efreet based on a friend from college. This noble Efreet was a bit different than any others, for he was…
Francis, The Flaming Efreet!
A Chaotic Good npc who granted a wish to the rogue of the party that freed him, and argued with her when he didn’t like the wish, so he made her change it. And he gave her a magic cloak that he thought she would look absolutely FANTASTIC in!
Francis ended up being a party favorite, they always loved interacting with him. The big muscle-bound efreet fell in absolute love with the monk of the party, Woo-Pei. Woo-Pei wasn’t interested so it was a fun little unrequited love.
He also had an axiomatic dire wolf named Snuggles as a pet – but that is a WHOLE other story!
So once upon a time I used a Deck of Many things in a campaign, and among the many hilarious things that happened was the rogue pulling the Donjon (for those who don’t know, they vanish and entombed ~somewhere~ that can only be located by a Wish spell). The fighter pulled a random magic item, and table rolling got them an Iron Flask. It was pretty early in the campaign so I didn’t want the rogue to feel too downtrodden so I decided they went into the flask, but it still took two sessions before they opened it because they were afraid of what ~might~ have been inside.
I am starting a new campaign soon and will be using a character based on Sam’s current character so considering who’s in the spot light right now I thought I’d share.
First off the DM has green lit this idea. the idea behind the character is a luck based caster that will use coins not as a divine symbol but as the spell’s catalyst.
Each time they would cast a spell I will flip a coin and call it, if correct the spell will do it’s max effect and if called incorrect then it will do it’s min effect. once the flip is decided then I will roll to hit or bypass any SR and depending on if I call correctly or not I will ether get a plus or minus to the roll.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!
Also:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
Alternatively
AAAWWWWEESOOOMMEEE! & FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU*********** ME
“As you command, Master!”
“What command? All I said was Awesome and Fuc…. Oh.”
“You ain’t never had a friend like me…”
If I could upvote…you would get one.
Same.
Same.
Same!
Oy! 10,000 years in there will give you *SUCH* a crick in the neck!
“… for one hour after which I will begin to act based on my nature and alignment.”
Just some?
Beat me to it.
Ah the “target rich environment” … good times.
Is this a reference to Pool of Radiance, and the Efreet Bottle you find in the Kobold Caves?

Well. Hellooooo there.
Welp, here’s hoping “The creature is friendly to you and your companions for 1 hour and obeys your commands”.
“After ten thousand years I am free! “
Yeah, that’s what went through my mind.
Was. Not. Expecting. That. Wow.
I must do this… https://media.salon.com/2016/08/this_is_not_fine.jpg
Awww, it doesn’t post the image…
Well, time to get drunk because that was a bottle of Djinn (not sorry).
nothing to be sorry for. 😉
Are you not Ifrit it could be something else?
Hah!
That line was in-genie-ous! 😀

*deep booming voice* “I AM MISTER MEESEEKS, GAZE UPON ME!”
“The Dwarves delved too greedily and too deep…”
“TOO SOON, YOU HAVE AWAKENED ME TOO SOON EXECUTUS!”
What a panel! Holy crap that’s awesome!
Called it.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! *takes photo and posts it to twiter* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
As far as payoffs go, it’s hard to ask for better than “Out of the meat grinder and into the deep fryer.”

And the last thing you want to hear from the GM in that situation is: “Make a reaction roll for the being”.
Personally, I’m hoping it can sense Dwayla lurking nearby and that it has some kind of clan-feud-honour-grudge-thing going on against her kind.
Because a four-way free-for-all boss-battle would be hilarious at this point.
“How would you like them? Medium Rare? Toasted with some fresh orc blood? Burnt to Cinders, or melted into Slag?”
I’ll take melted into slag for $500 Alex.
I’ll take mine mostly turned to slag… Might make a nice helmet or sword out of him…

Enjoying the story!

There are a few new spells in the AcqInc book that technically have gold coins as components. ^.^
