I shall note that Randall Munroe, of XKCD, has/had his own ball pit as well. They’re surprisingly easy and fun, though as he puts it; “there are times that I am not 100% certain just how many people are in my living room.”.
Heard him talk about the ball pit last year. It’s a fantastic story, from acquiring the large number of balls to thinking through The Rules. But the best part is his description of what it’s like to wake up after falling asleep in the pit.
Have you heard about JoCo Cruise Crazy? http://jococruisecrazy.com/ It’s a geek-tacular musical cruise fest. Or a week-long con with fruity boat drinks and good hygiene (because everyone has a room, and hence a shower). This year, they are turning one entire indoor cabin into a ball pit.
Good to see they’ve established their mutual appreciation of balls.
I usually cant stand romance in fiction, but this is too damn cute. ♥
I’m still wondering why Amy looks so much like Garth from Wayne’s World!
Well that should be obvious: I have a deep sexual attraction to Garth Algar and the only way I will EVER have it come to fruition is to draw a character similar to Garth and then have a main cast member (in this case Sam) sex them into oblivion.
Well… it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen it done!

I should point out (in a rare lucid moment detached from my usually asocial self) that I love this comic to the point that I caught up in 3 days whilst working a 9-5 and working on some other projects! I’ve never even played D&D, the characterisation and story development is good enough that not being completely familiar with the setting doesn’t affect the enjoyment.
Why? Why had I never thought of doing this before?!
After the aforementioned XKCD strip, I looked into turning my unused guest bedroom into a ball pit. The cost is prohibitive, but it’s not totally undoable. There’s a site here: http://www.chiliahedron.com/ballroom/ that’ll figure the cost for ya, too.
Yes, yes, truly your burn on Yelp will be sick. And thoroughly epic. And given the number of raves it likely has to be considered both “upscale dining” and “swank” as previously noted, said burn will likely have zero impact as it will be brushed aside as the ravings of a crank. Still, it’s good to know that Amy was that flexible about the whole thing, and a good time was had by all in the end.
And yes, I’m fully aware of the number of double entendres in that last line. Fully. Aware.
Playing with balls is way more fun than overpriced noodles!

Brian, I need you to stop making Amy so likeable. I was cheering for Harry to hit on Luna from the moment she appeared on the story, and this is like every single fanfiction I ever imagined. Also: you’ll make my wife jealous.

Ball pits are all fun and games until you realize that kids have ‘accidents’ in there… my first job was at McDonald’s and I remember they would pull all of the balls out of the pit once a month and it was a fright worse than any Elder God could ever give a man.
Which is exactly why it’s Amy’s ball pit and not one at a McDonalds. 😉
May I be the first to say, ‘Jesus Sam, get out of there!’ Ball pits are disgusting. I know that’s not the point of the comic, and I’m happy that they’re enjoying themselves, but seriously, ball pits are disgusting. Not to mention the awful stuff that’s been found at the bottom of them at various times. No thanks…

As a parent it is my duty to point out that when I’ve taken my son to the places that had ball pits when I was a kid, the pits have been conspicuously absent. I think perhaps they are our grneration’s drive-ins.
Perhaps some day my wife and I can do this to one of the kids rooms.
