Pickle
Chapter: Season Two
Characters: Brett, Charlie, Dagger McStab - PC, Evil Sam, Lord Greymane Douchebro - NPC, Mel, Trevor
I’ll let this one speak for itself.
I’m intrigued to see what the commenters have to say on this development.
Store News: I always intended for the Monte Saved/Ruined my game tees to be a limited run but to be honest, I am surprised at how quickly the bulk of the initial order sold. Nonetheless, the Monte tee will be out of the store once I run out of stock (and all of the sizes are in single digits) so if you’re on the fence, now is the time to act.
See you on Monday!
Brett’s face is perfect. As a DM, there’s few things more satisfying than making rogues dead. Or making people like Brett stunned at their dead character.
About time. Gods it feels good to see a prick player like that get smacked back. GOOD RIDDANCE.
:c I still don’t understand the significance of the birth certificate.
sam was asking what the thing brett showed mel was. instead of simply saying “Don’t worry about it” she came up with the snarky response “it’s your birth certificate, says you’re adopted, now mind your business and roll for initiative”
basically she was telling sam to piss off.
Ugh. As a player who’s had bad experiences with grudge-holding DMs in the past, I was really rooting for Brett here. Sam is being a total douche in this arc.
I love this comic overall, but this strip just left a bad taste in my mouth. I just hope the plan from last strip plays out. Prolly something involving the fact that Mel is a priestess and all the enemies are undead.
Sweet! I love nothing more than to see the look on a problem player’s face when you finally show them that you’ve had enough of their shit. I’ve used a grudge monster only once in a decade of gaming, and I tried everything out of game to get the guy to be not a douche without any success. The look on his face when Gnorm the gnomish (the race he hated the most) gninja stepped out of the shadows and delivered the killing blow before he could do a thing was priceless. Absolutely priceless. I’m hoping Brian doesn’t have anything fancy to get out of the death.
… I hate not knowing who to root for. I normally dislike Brett’s way of playing the game, but at this point Sam is impossible to sympathize with. That’s just … cold. I was really hoping Brett could pull something out here, but it looks like it’s too late for Dagger McStabb.
I guess the only one left to root for is Mel with Brett’s plan.
This is especially troubling to me because I don’t remember the players (apart from Mel) actually DOING anything to earn Sam’s wrath – certainly not at this level. Maybe I need to reread the previous arc?
On the other hand, “Lord Douchebro” is about the most hilarious thing I’ve ever seen. I am torn.
Enjoying it. Brett’s look is fantastic, especially as he assumed some sort of immunity to things. I believe Mel will pull it out, and I hope I’m not misreading it, but I think Sam’s not ‘grudging’ it as much as Fourthcoring it, perhaps in ancticipation of the next campaign going Pathfinder or another system.
When I see a whiny, entitled player like Brett getting his face rubbed into the dirt by a DM, I don’t have to think twice about whose side I’m on.
This is fun. Currently, I suspect it is part of Brett’s plan or an introduction to an all evil campaign due to the upcoming Book of Vile Darkness. 🙂
Whatever happens next, it will be entertaining to read.
*Dragon boner*
You gotta look at the positives for Brett. Now he’s free to play that strange character he always wanted to…like the sword-wielding, flail-beating Beholder! Or his Gamma World character Sergeant Kitty Corn!!!
A gamma world strip featuring sgt. kitty corn would totally rule.
Lets not forget that Brett’s character is Dagger McStabb III, Esquire.
He’s only a handful of 3d6 away from returning as Dagger McStabb IV: Stabs Harder.
Personally, I’m thrilled to see Brett get this. He’s felt too much like Brian from KoDT lately. Especially with his bringing OoC knowledge to the table. This whole thing feels like Sam’s giving Mel a chance to stand up to the douchebag boyfriend. She just gave Sam a weak “I’m sorry” and walked away. As far as Sam is concerned, by not saying anything to the Tool, she condoned her boyfriend beating the snot out of someone. Also, Mel’s been wearing a black hoodie that suspiciously looks like the death robes.
Never DM’ed myself but I did help my DM-Buddy lay waste to the entire party due to certain pricks ruining game night with meta-gaming, incessant cell phone use and other douche-nozzly mood killing crap.
I couldn’t root more for Sam if you gave me a gory skull helmet and a glowing sign made from cursed lich bones.
GO SAM GO!
What do we want? MPK!
When do we want it? NOW! NOW! NOW!
GO SAM GO!
(also I truly enjoyed the irony in Dagger McStabb getting McStabb’ed into a pillar. “You call that a dagger? this is a DAGGER!”)
you know… this could end in total PK with the group consensus being Sam needs a break as DM. New characters, new setting and bring in that Girl to DM or for extra hilarity let Charlie DM the next session… “Okay guys, feel for Initiative!” c’mon a blind DM?? perfect revenge tool on Sam.
Sam brings it on himself. If he can’t control his group, he deserves to get walked over. For example, last comic, Brett handing messages to Mel? Nope…that should all go through the DM. Anything done with it is a No Go…if the DM don’t know, it don’t go.
But thus far, Sam doesn’t seem to be a very good DM.
