Party Selected
Chapter: Season Ten
A double-sized page today (that crashed halfway through the process, so I had reserve the right to redraw panels later).
And of course they would call out for Dove too. He’s a dick, but they don’t actually want him to die in a fire.
And of course Sam would be ok with Trevor and Lee dating. It’s these moments that make you realize what is important.
Amazing pages Brian!
Sam better watch out, in falling in love with Amy. She’s shown so much depth these last few arcs. Her leadership through this crisis has been clutch. Did you intend for her to be so relatable to the ADHD tribe?
She is partially based on someone I care for very much who lives with ADHD.
You did an incredible drop portraying it. This was the scene that made it obvious to be. Goofy, empathetic and great in a crisis. That’s us. Thanks for doing such a great job creating a character who portrays the positives of ADHD.
That’s a lot of awesome panels, and a really long page. I appreciate Sam and Trevor’s moment. It fits the relationship we’ve seen built up over the past ten years.
Sorry to add: I think there’s a typo in panel 11. “Hider†instead of “hinderâ€.
All fixed! Thanks for the catch.
Damn good page! I like how they got realistic about what to do & how ok Sam was with Trevor. Especially the cop (forgot name) politely pointing out how need muscle. In too many movies & such they tend to ignore you WILL need people able to thrown down.
Can they at least want Dove to get a little burned?
I am amused that Talbot’s lack of pop culture extends even as far as Tolkien.
Shit kickers unite! 😀
“So you all meet after defeating exploding monsters who just levelled an entire building around you” is definitely an improvement on “you all meet in a tavern”! 😉
You know… “You all meet in a tavern” isn’t that bad if you add “it’s on fire” to it… PCs were all there for their own reasons, get woken up in the middle of the night by the fire, jump right into the action and provide opportunities for them to team up and help each other escape and immediately provide potential story hooks and reasons to stick together…
Hmm, interesting twist 🙂
Why is Clark still wearing her sunglasses? It’s dark out. Rule of cool?
Now I’m wondering what Carlos brings to the table that Amy doesn’t…
Amy will mobilize the fuck out of a search party for Lee and in this instance, Carlos works at the North Pole and has a few advantages.
I forgot that Carlos was a North Pole employee. Thanks!
Cleric of the narative, Monk path of Klaus, Rogue gamemaster, Paladin Oath of Serve and protect, Wizard, and Santa’s workshop Artificer
You forgot Emma. Guess she’d be… a druid? Eh. Maybe some kind of Werelion Psion with the eyebeams? Hm.
Is that the exact same Dulla-drawing as in https://d20monkey.com/comic/summons/ ??
It is. I lost half of my work yesterday and I am going to redraw that panel this weekend. It was about keeping the story moving and I ask that no one be a jerk about it, please. I already don’t like it and it will be fixed as soon as I come up for air.
UPDATE: The made time today to redo the last panel as it was intended!
Hey, life doth occur. The whole thing looks amazing anyway!
I appreciate that. Life is very hectic at the moment.
It’s all cool. There isn’t a digital comic artist out there that doesn’t use a bit of judicious cut and paste to save some valuable time, especially when faced with things like computer crashes. That includes the pros at the big comic companies. Heck, many artists actually play on it for dramatic effect, showing only tiny changes in individual panels.
You get many bonus points for delivering an excellent comic instead of a bit of text that says “computer crashed, see you Monday.”
As long as the story’s flow wasn’t interrupted, so be it. Great job, Brian.
Every adventure group in literature has its shitkickers and “civilians.” Classic example is “Lord of the Rings,” where the poor hobbits are basically baggage a lot of the time. Although they do come through with the saves at critical points.
Lets save Trevor with magoi/magic/mana!
Damn. Look at all these spicy panels. So many, so pretty.
This page is glorious I like where this arc is going. Might have to bust out Final countdown soon.
Oh man, that body cam footage from Officer Clark is going to be craaaaazy when all this is done!
Great job, Bryan, this is going to be a great conclusion!
Hope she’s got one. Imagine the report…
“Investigated exploding building, only to find a giant ogre-like monster that I had to ram my motorcycle into to subdue it. Then met with a weird floating elf warlock thing that taunted me before teleporting away. Afterwards, joined with an adventuring party to travel via elven magic to the North Pole to speak with the King of Seasons and then depart on a mission to rescue Santa Claus.
Apart from this, it was a quiet night, nothing further to report.”
Super excited to see how all of this wraps up. After going back and reading some of the older pages, it’s really impressive to see how much Brian’s grown as both an artist and a storyteller.
Seconded.
I like the Spring motif for Dula’s gate in the revised last panel.
TIME TO KICK SOME DICK!
Love the new panel. FWIW I didn’t even catch that it was one you had re-used and wouldn’t have thought it less if it was never changed. Your attention to everything is amazing.
Listen, I know you said that you plan to end it by October, but if it happens to stretch out a little longer, I won’t be mad.
