Invincibility is in oneself, vulnerability is in the opponent.
Therefore skillful warriors are able to be invincible, but they cannot cause opponents to be vulnerable.
Therefore a victorious army first wins and then seeks battle; a defeated army first battles and then seeks victory.
~Sun Tzu
This by the way is the philosophy I use when building every D&D character I play.
To be fair, the reason the last session ended in a TPK was like 90% because of some REALLY unlucky rolls. I can appreciate being prepared, but strategy can only get you so far when the dice gods decide that it’s S&M Night and it’s your turn to be the gimp.
“strategy can only get you so far when the dice gods decide that it’s S&M Night and it’s your turn to be the gimp.” This is my new favorite sentence. I think I need a t-shirt with this on. Thanks Sean.
So… I’m planning on starting metal casting after Christmas. I’m thinking one of the first things I want to cast is a beard clasp like Brett’s. Anyone have an idea of what I should use for the actual clasp? And would anybody be interested in one, if I do? I’ll make them for cost, and one for our artist gratis.
Brett’s beard clasp appears to be a two piece interlocking clasp, I would imagine a simple horizontal comb would work well if not a pair of brackets facing each other [] with longer sides of course. A one piece clasp could have a hinged back like a barrette or a hole thru like a shell barrette.
The question is what metal are you planning on casting? Brett’s looks like brass but copper and bronze could also look cool. One problem with casting it though is that in order for it to be useful it must be very thin metal or it will be too heavy to stay in place.
Just my two cents…
Those are some mighty fine pies and you know it.
Don’t be silly Brett, what are the odds that you could get tpked twice in a row?

In Brett’s apparent estimation, and mine, high enough to plan for.
High enough is anything not less than 0% ^^

My characters generally just stab it until it dies. Seems to work.
same as always 1/20
Not if you pre-roll the ones out. Then you can get as high as 1/8000.
You say “Don’t be silly, what are the odds…”
But you know that in the world of gaming, that’s just begging for trouble. Failing to plan, plan to fail.
Is it bad that every time I see the title of this story line, I hear ‘One night in Bangkok’?
See part one.
dammit, how did I miss that?
See, I’d thought he was talking about “Sweet Dreams”.
Cue Leeroy Jenkins…
“No, we can’t metagame this shit. Let’s go!”
That’s good thinking Brett. Another TPK might cause this group to completely implode.

that is truly epic
This is a bit of good healthy paranoia…
I’m kind of confused by the first panel. What is Calvis’ beef with the situation, exactly?
The charity aspect of the ladies’ bribe to Percy. He isn’t a fan.

Is Calvis going to be eating something every scene? Is he like Brad Pitt in Ocean’s 11?
He’s not eating anything in part one! But now that I see it I hope it keeps happening. Even during fights. *stab monster* *eat a snack* *repeat*
Well, he wouldn’t want his apple to get wet.
