HOVER-TEXT: Classic Jeanie
and since her husband is essentially king of the north pole she has diplomatic immunity
Actually she knows that Dove is the naughty list…..
I think he got a poo-filled stocking some time back
Lets be honest, he probably has a poo filled something now too.
I was thinking/ wondering that exact same thing.
JEANIE! Servin’ up the classic cockmeat sandwich since 19XX.
Loving the Christmas/cold blush to Jeanie’s nose and cheeks. Also love that the new Santa family is all about kicking that ass!
The last panel so needs to be a gif with Dove’s Adam’s Apple bobbing up and down in fear.
But he’s too much of a Fat Bastard to be able to see his Adam’s Apple!
she started glowing in that last panel…
Well, considering that Hairstyle a subtle Combat Aura would not be that unusual.
When the one acting as a calming element turns and levels direct violence towards you, it is wise to not dare it’s coming to fruition. In short, shut up or else.
The absolute terror on Dove’s face in the last panel is priceless. On a similar note, I went back through recent comics and couldn’t tell, so I have to ask; did Dove wear his brown pants today?Because the look on his face says that he needed too.
Ok…WHY would anyone hire this idiot in any sort of public role? This guy would ruin any chance a store like this could possibly have.
I think there are a few reasons why Lee hired Dove (and some might apply to any other hypothetical hiring as well).
First, he’s pretty well known in the local gaming scene. Sure, it’s not all good, but there are plenty of other people who are giant assholes who see his terribleness as “confidence & determination” and that twists all his shit to gold as far as they’re concerned.
Second, (this is more Lee/Sam centric) is that he has history with Sam, and Lee is trying to push Sam into a decision. Dove initially as “the stick” (just there to piss off sam & others) then as “the carrot” (join me & his ass is gone).
Third, (general hypothetical hiring again) he’s got money, and as annoying as it is, people with money/family connections can get away with a lot more, and get more opportunities presented to them in life.
Fourth, we only see Dove when he’s interacting with those he generally doesn’t like/views as lesser people to himself. It’s quite possible that he’s not the worlds biggest douche when he’s with those he considers peers and equals (but again, who could ever live up to his shining example of…whatever we always see him as?).
For all we know, he could be completely different all the time we don’t see him (unlikely, but possible) and that’s the face he puts on for the rest of the world.
And now I need to take a shower, because some of that got dangerously close to defending Dove, and with what we’ve seen of him, that’s gross.
Makes sense, though I’ve found that people like Dove have only three modes- snooty “benevolance” to those who believe their lies, the Ego Monster, and the Abject Coward. I would say Dove is a parody of a human, but he’s basically president, so…
The sheer pants-wetting terror in panel 3 just made my day
Epic Jeanie. On a side note, did she just randomly appear and nobody commented on it, or did she come in through the door?
Don’t fuck with Mrs. Claus.
Mrs.Claus is gonna go all merry…ON YOUR ASS!
I keep forgetting (probably because there is no logic to it), aside from besting Dove in a game by using superior tactics) , what did Dallas ever do to Dove to warrant him being this abhorrent to her?
Being a woman is a mark of inferiority and weakness to people like him.
Simply out, Dove is a misogynistic sack of shit and is practically a walking example of those MRA d-bags.
See, I just… don’t get it, Dove seems to really go out of his way to bring Dallas and other women down… and I don’t really see the point, even from his view… Different mindsets I guess, that and I don’t think I’m a sack of shit.
Why can’t Dove act like this guy?

Uber geek and elitist, but able to accept defeat AND understand women.
Because Dove isn’t just an elitist, he’s UBER elitist. An before you ask what’s the difference, an UBER elitist comes with fry’s and a shake.
He hates women, likely as he feels rejected by them, so he seeks to exclude them in turn. Somewhere between sour grape-ing and his massive ego otherwise.
I’m assuming neglectful parents and similar. I’ve met more than a couple of assholes like him, and he’s actually pretty true to life. Guy has issues and he hides from them for a myriad of reasons, and due to his abuse he seeks to find power over others, because that’s how he thinks people (like his parents) gain worth.
Authoritarianism parenting with partial neglect…
What everyone else said is right, I’m just guessing at the why based on what I’ve seen in the wild.
Considering how his cousin Grey ended up, wouldn’t surprise me one bit
Push it Dove – one shove or hand laid on you and feminazi gets to have prison stay and pay lawyers. They’re all f…king mouth because they don’t think you’ve got the testicles to stand up to their BS.
I love how a woman standing up for her friend becomes a “feminazi.” I can hear the whistling as the point of this arc flies over your head.
I mean, he won’t have the testicles once she’s done with him.
And really… Like I said earlier. Don’t fuck with Mrs. Claus. She literally has diplomatic immunity by right of not existing as far as the US government is concerned, and additionally she’s rather terrifying.
and if she gets any issue she’ll say Krampus did it…I doubt he’d disagree…seriously Jeanie probably scares the stockings out of Krampus.
@mist42: Dude, you really need to read the archive if you honestly think Jeanie is a “feminazi”.
Fun fact!
A woman standing up to a bullying, misogynistic jerk isn’t automatically a feminazi!
Far more frequently, they’re just a woman standing up to a bullying, misogynistic jerk!
Ya know… like anyone that ought to stand up to a pompous, elitist, self-absorbed jerk.
Because no one deserves that shit. Like, ever.
Pretty much this. Dove isn’t an innocent party; he ran Dallas out of a job she loved simply because she’s female, and acts like a giant asshole to basically everyone that isn’t him (as far as we’ve seen). He is essentially all the negative stereotypes about nerd/geek culture rolled into one big, flabby ball of awful.
You lost all credibility the moment you used “feminazi” unironically outside of a quote. Bye-bye now.
Okay we all agree @mist42 is a moron, and Dove deserves everything horrible thing Jeanie or anyone else, can come with done to him. He is a true sexist scumball, and I want him to die in a fire.
I would just like to point out that if a man ever (EVER!) threatened a woman with physical abuse on this level, even if she had went out of his way to destroy the life and career of a friend of his, you all would be singing a totally different tune.
If you want equality, stop having a double standard. Physical threats are bad and people who make them should be punished. Either it’s true for everyone, or no one.
I want to agree with that. I really do. I want the world to be an idealistic place of equality and tolerance and one where abuse doesn’t exist.
Reality: it’s not. Abuse, both physical, emotional, and psychological is a real and *very* present thing. Tactics such as ignoring it, turning the other cheek, being the better and bigger person, making compromises and allowing perceived smaller slights so that more severe slights won’t happen… none of these things stops abuse or abusive cycles from happening, and quite often, they let abusive cycles grow stronger and become a common normal thing.
Just standing your ground and saying no… is a great slogan, but in practice in the face of an abuser, often they don’t just stop. That requires a sense of guilt and shame that they know they are doing something wrong to be hiding under the surface. Repeat abusers, those who have incorporated their version of superiority into their psychological makeup, don’t believe they are doing anything wrong and and perfectly entitled to act and behave as they do, and will not simply stop because they are told to. They will fight back harder in an attempt to prove they’re right.
Sometimes, you need to fight back, and a threat of action is the first step. It’s not crossing a line, but it clearly warns that a line *is* there.
The above scenario is no different from brandishing a gun when you’re being cornered and mugged in an alley, or placing naval vessels of war in a perimeter whose space is being violated. It’s a strong and clear statement that if the pressure of invasion and abuse doesn’t stop this very second, then there will be a reaction.
You’re absolutely right that in an ideal world, either it’s true for everyone or no one. If Dove would stop being abusive, we wouldn’t be here. He’s not going to stop being abusive of his own free will… not that he has one, this is a comic, after all.
This is self-defense and the defense of others: the threat of a consequence if the abusive attack does not stop.
Yes. This. Predators need to be informed you are not prey. A display they consider threatening is often the only thing they understand. However what really takes this into the realm of “wish I’d written it” is: It covers the idea of stages of abuse and appropriate response succinctly and appropriately. It would have been *perfect* if it emphasized “standing your ground and saying no”as a necessary first step. Regardless, it’s a beautiful post, JulieR.
That last pannel i think dove peed himself
Now that’s an unfair comparison, Jean. Garbage chutes serve a useful purpose, after all.
You know, in retrospect, that former Steward of Winter should just have been forced to be around Dove for a week as his punishment.
