In an alternate d20 Monkey-verse, this is the straw that breaks Brett’s back and the only thing anybody gets for Christmas that year is a whuppin’ from the Krampus.
Kind of a dick move by Trevor, to be honest. I know that he did it because he was trying to welcome Carlos by making him feel part of the group, but Carlos was real worried about his first GM session.
Not a Dick move. Just Honest. Carlos could not have known Brett would react to “no dice” like that. Personally I do not see the issue: Drawing cards. Rolling dice. Both generate Randomness.
It’s not just the different ways of making randomness, its also that he wont be able to use His Dice, Dice that by now have personality – some might have been with him since his first game and bring him luck, others that are for dire emergencies only. When its like that its trying to play without your arms.

I hope that Brett (after the story arc is done) won’t be “Ah, I guess fate is a great system…” I am firmly in his camp you can have my dice when you pry them from my cold dead fingers…
