Exaaaactly. And they probably overlooked that in favor of the story – and enjoyed it a lot – until the author was revealed to be a uterus-haver.
Then it becomes clear to them that they have been deceived! Tricked! Fooled! into reading *gasp* ‘feminist literature’! The affrontery! The outrage! They must beat their chest and hoot loudly lest they be thought less manly! Especially once one of their fellow shitlords has displayed appropriately Red Pill comments, which means they should follow suit to be seen as part of the group.
SO, does it make me part of the shitlords if I really don’t care if the characters are males or females as long as the story itself is actually good and the world is well crafted.
Realistically, no. A good story, a well thought-out plot, and an immersive world is a hallmark of a great author.
Now, if you then decided that the story was suddenly terrible upon learning that the author was not the gender you thought they were, and caused you to publicly smear their name in the dirt… THAT would make you a shitlord.
Well, that’s good to know. ‘Cause I’ve gotten shit in the past for caring more about the world and story, and not the whole “OMG MAIN HEROES ARE WOMEN!!” part. Then again, from my experience stories that used that card usually weren’t well crafted in terms of characters, stories or the world.
I actually want to know if you have a story written somewhere for Dead Iron or if you just word vomited sci-fi/fantasy onto a page because that’s amazing XD
Let my arms recover from the Karthun money shovel. That little diamond shaped bit between my shoulder is really sore. Maybe something like…tax refund season? Yeah, my money shoveling muscles will need another amazing RPG to swing at.
Normally don’t play casters, but can’t wait for my copy of GM guide so can play 5e Magebound. Until then my group plays it as a Sorceror w/ Warlock-esque invocations and Pact of the Blade boon.
One of my players is a librarian who bonded with a dust elemental! And I had one briefly, who wanted to play chrono-elemental halfling who was an experiment of Prathian who had been previous stuck in stasis for 300 years. He was planning to go bard/wizard and narratively using Lucky as all time-related shenanigans.
Jeanie totally has an app that makes her phone ring as if a call or text is incoming for just these sorts of occasions (also for making quick exits from far more awkward situations, if she isn’t planning on kicking ass and taking names, that is), doesn’t she?
HOVER TEXT: *gentle nudge*
Subtext: the shitlord brigade didn’t like Dead Iron because it had a lot of important characters who were women.
Dropping the hard truth bombs.
Bruh. AND a love story that didn’t have a dude, or wasn’t fetishized for dudes.
Things get clearer and clearer…

Also, not giving a chance to the story because of the gender of the protagonists is a pretty shit move.
*gentle nudge* is my new favorite sound effect.

I absolutely have a design/lore notebook for Dead Iron.
Someday…
Let my arms recover from the Karthun money shovel. That little diamond shaped bit between my shoulder is really sore. Maybe something like…tax refund season? Yeah, my money shoveling muscles will need another amazing RPG to swing at.
… I… I was just about to post this same thing.
Are you my sexy doppelganger?
That smitten look……<3 love is imminent.
I picked up my copy of Karthun. Do it. Now.
I’m not done reading Karthun yet but can conform it is pretty great, and I really wanna play a firebound mage.
*CONFIRM. I can words.
Tell me about your Magebound!
I love the juicy damned flavor of Magebound just because it’s as creative and bonkers as the elemental a person picks.
I have absolutely no story or even idea of a character yet. XD I’m just a sucker for fire mages.

everyone needs to find someone to relate to, maybe this will light a spark
And that is the story of how Dallas got her groove back.
Or started to get it back, at least.
Thank goodness at least George Eliot is still a male author!
*spit take*
Also James Tiptree Jr.
EEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry…lesbian romance is happening 🙂 I love this series, but now I love it even more 😀
You know that thing when you pull out your pockets and moths fly out? Yeah that’s my money situation or I’d TOTALLY have a copy.
Also this is getting fun, will Dallas’ setting get it’s own book?
In the last 2 panels… Please do not put that Josie face again! It give me the creeps!
I was curious about Dead Iron’s world before…
Now… I NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING!!! (O.o)’
If the interest is there, maybe someday I will post it.
Once you catch your breath from Karthun, you seem to have a lead on the next thing.
Meh… I’m still largely done with Fantasy RPGs, so I want to see Dallas rockin’ the Sci-Fi! 🙂

Just hearing these questions makes me want to read this series IRL
So… Dead Iron was a more Epic Fantasy Blue Rose? o.o That’s… what I’m getting out of these hints at its world and story.
Plus the implied reasons shitlords tore it apart.
