Could be worse, I supppose…
Totally putting in a quest for ‘the Sphincter of Vecna’ next game I run. Dare you seek the dark power held by arch-lich taint?
The great thing about this one is that there are so many possible contexts, each funnier than the last.
have to say – Context for me is the Fortune Teller seeing a fate so soul-shatteringly awful for the new adventurer all he can do is intone ‘Orcus’ Butthole’ in Disgusted Horror… but he will still probably charge his 6 silver for the reading 🙂
I’m going to put that on a Cards Against Humanity blank, thanks.
+1’d
I love this idea.
I made one labeled “bear catapults”
“Are you sure that’s the location of a major magical artifact?”
“Pretty damn. That’ll be six gold.”
Of course it is. Wand of Orcus, anyone?
AND the comments are quite inspired as well, thank you everyone.
I’m pretty sure they were both surprised by the answer she gave, considering the guy asked the fortune teller “Where will I find my true love?”

*shrug*
*cues up the Barry White music*
It does ring as more of an expletive, like Gadzooks, etc, something one says in a moment of distress, as Bob’s face does seem quite filled with concern about something. Maybe this diviner is actually a bottom-of-the-barrel cultist, already a last resort to discerning some important solution. So insult to injury. Orcus is the demon prince of undead, so maybe Bob is searching for the fate of a loved one, and perhaps their soul is not where it was “meant” to be. Did I analyze the shit out of this or what?
The first detail I noticed about this comic is that the statement ends with a simple period, not an exclamation mark. So to me it seems unlikely that the phrase is being used as an expletive as some have suggested. Rather the more likely conclusion is that the phrase is in fact the answer to some question sought by Bob the fighter through this diviner (and Bob’s distressed expression would seem to back that up).
Of course this interpretation isn’t 100% certain, but I find it’s often the little things that tell the details of a story.
“Oh no poor Bob” was my first response.
Then glancing at some of the comments it could be a viable adventure i realize. There was a time when Orcus was dead (there were a few 2e adventures arround his comeback) but dead gods’ corpses are floating islands in the astral plane. And i believe thats what githyanki swords are made of. So a journey into Orcus’s butthole is a viable possibility…
So, you’re thinking “Journey to the Center of the Orcus”, huh?
Honestly, Orcus’ Butthole might be what the Diviner is seeing and the amazing part is that he recognizes it. Not only that but the lack of an exclamation makes it seem as if it’s not the first time Orcus’ Butthole has popped up on his Crystal Ball.
That makes me think of defective magic items – not quite cursed, they don’t do anything negative, they just don’t work some of the time. Like a crystal ball that, on a roll of a 1, will always show Orcus’ Butthole.
well this isnt going to end well for me
Orcus’ anal orifice, adventurers official aim
I hear they have a cream for that.
I’m suddenly reminded of Critical Role
What is “The worst place to have my tongue banished to”, Alex?
