I hear “Mother of the Dead” and my mind immediately goes to the Black Sacrament from The Elder Scrolls. “Sweet Mother, sweet Mother, send your child unto me, for the sins of the unworthy must be baptized in blood and fear.”
For some reason I’m getting a good Nightingale vibe from Felicos without going too far into that territory, I quite like his design! I also like that the Mother of the Dead kept her armour from her previous job.
I like your things. I’m really excited for Karthun to be a thing I can buy. You’re doing a good job 😀 *thumbsup*
Hey, Felicos: to quote The Smith Street Band, “wipe that shit-eating grin off your punchable face.”
Seriously though, I’m loving the gods’ designs and I can’t wait to see more.
Oh good, I’m not the only one who thought that.
Damn, man, these are great! I can’t wait to see the rest of it!
Damn, that’s some good armour coverage on a female character!
It definitely calls back to when she was the goddess of valor.
Okay, I’ll play the dummy here…I forgot who Sehad is/was in the pantheon. Would someone please remind me, because he looks too cool to be deceased.
It’s been a while since I read that early text-only PDF, but if memory serves, Sehad was “The World Warden,” god of nature, the patron god of humans, and Valkyre’s husband/boyfriend/baby daddy/what-have-you. Felicos killed him out of jealousy, and Valkyre’s resulting grief transformed her into The Mother of the Dead. I’m also pretty sure that despite Sehad being dead, there are still supposed to be some druids out there who act as defenders of nature to honor his memory.
Not to mention, he’s arguably not dead. Gods are ideas more than they are beings. They never go away truly as long as people believe in them.
Which means, depending on how Brian runs his religions, it’s entirely possible that a mortal of particular strength of faith could one day Mantle Sehad.
Dark, that is a pretty good story hook.
A bit of a refresher.
