That really makes me want to know more about the various seasonal courts in D20Land. If we connect Clive’s arrogant lack of compassion with the mood of winter, what does that say about summer?
What does it say about thousands of gamers locked in their air-conditioned homes, cowering in fear of the Burning Summer Sun?
It says that con season has begun and thousands of unwashed bodies will descend upon air-conditioned convention centers and hotels for weeks of gaming, merriment, and astounding dice and game sales.
I have been outside in downtown Indianapolis at the height of summer – It Burns!

I’m thinking now that Sam didn’t create Karthun completely out of the blue. Large portions of it were, instead, documented from things that Sam could innately *see* – even if he didn’t realize it at the time. He can manipulate the Narrative, certainly, but only from what already is there – the reason invoking it against Krampus failed was because Sam tried using it as a weapon, instead of modeling clay.
I’m gonna kill that little twerp, makin’ Sam think he failed is a something you don’t do. I don’t care that he is the steward of summer he better have a damn good reason.
Seriously, he is somebody with a lot of self esteem and depression issues, and you’re gonna fuck with him by saying that, “Yeah, those cool magic powers you were supposed to get? Yeah we decided you were unworthy so we’re just gonna take those away.” Fuck Larry.

Didn’t Dallas have an connection with Larry? Shouldn’t she have some ability with the Narrative herself, or some other power? I hope you give us more info Brian. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Larry did something to give her a start in the game industry under the gender-neutral alias “Dallas Noble”, but I don’t think we really know what he did.

Hey, Brian – any chance of putting some boundaries on the speech bubbles in this post? While not necessarily confusing without them, it’s jarring and takes you out of the immersion in the story trying to follow them.
Great job as always, btw – defeinitely keeping us all on the edge of our seats. 🙂

Ummm…..here’s a thought, and I might be calling a shot here that’s a long one, so pardon me…but what if Larry and Clive were in on it together and the goal was actually to coup the King?
