I love the braille in the shield structure. What does it say? I’m not familiar with the language and internet searches are proving difficult. Does it read from our perspective or Charlie’s?
I don’t read braille… it’s just that my google fu is reasonably strong. And I can’t get it. I think part towards one end reads “shield” but that’s the best I could come up with.
Man, I just wanna describe the dome in as thorough and tactile a sense as I possibly can for Charlie’s benefit. He deserves to know exactly how incredibly awesome that is.
I was hoping there was an easter egg in the Braille, but it appears to be gibberish. It mostly looks like you would read it left to right, the first character is “capitalize”, and then it’s Iwbyr. The seventh character doesn’t correspond to a braille letter in that orientation. Mirrored vertically it would be m, mirrored horizontally it would be u. Then it continues ield. You can’t invert the whole thing, because y has no mirror.
I plugged that phrase into a Braille translator, and it gave me the same thing you have. This is apparently contracted form, which uses abbreviations to eliminate characters. So it would seem you are correct.
I don’t know Braille well enough, and I was only looking at direct translations of the alphabet. So the contracted “sh” wasn’t showing up for me. Now that I know about contracted, it makes sense, though it is very contracted, like “will” is contracted to “w”, and sh is combined into a single symbol. I w b yr shield.
Yeah, it’s the contracted version of braille, which looks to function much in the same way speed reading does for sighted people. I plugged it into two different translators, and both showed the same thing you’ve got here for Grade 2 braille.
And it’s details like this that make me so. Friggin. Happy. Seriously, Brian. Well done sir.
I’m fucking LOVING this ending arc. You are making each and every character look boss as hell. There are SO many panels that I just want wallpapers made of because of how much they just ooze awesome.
I’m reminded of Rot Lop Fan, a Green Lantern from a species with no eyes. He has a custom recharge oath that he uses; *ahem*
“In loudest din or hush profound
My ears catch evil’s slightest sound
Let those who toll out evil’s knell
Beware my power; the F-sharp bell!”
I’ve been reading this comic almost since the beginning. King Mega Unicorn? Not my thing, but it’s awesome that it’s so clearly yours, Brian. I can’t think of anything I’ve read that gets this meta *and* remains this true to its characters and its story. Really appreciating this last storyline.
Damn skippy it looks cool!
CHARLIE’S MAGIC HAS JOINED THE FIGHT
Charlie’s reveal in the second to last panel looks plain awesome.
… “looks cool” is an understatement the speaker should be ASHAMED of … 😀
Nothing against KMU, but THIS is the reveal I’ve been waiting for, and it looks hella cool!
Love the detail of the braille text in the spell circles
Holy shit, you’re right … that’s awesome!!
Love the look at the Braille spellbook too!
Love how there is Braille in the shield where mystical runes would normally be. Makes it more Charlie.

And I missed that Brian already answered it. Apparently the translator I found doesn’t do grade 2 braille to English translations very well.
OMG the braile IN the spell shield radiating from his fingers? A magnificent touch!
“A magnificent touch!â€
What you did there? Not only did I see it, I liked it.
Typo in the third panel from the bottom—”its” doesn’t need the apostrophe if it’s possessive, only if you’re using the contraction for “it is.”
Also, I’m a little unclear—did The Doubt cause the explosion, or did Charlie cause both the explosion and the shield spell?
The Doubt caused the explosion. Same as he did with the Ogre, back at Game Haus.
Charlie? Charlie “only” came through in the clinch with the perfect spell at the perfect moment.
Man, I just wanna describe the dome in as thorough and tactile a sense as I possibly can for Charlie’s benefit. He deserves to know exactly how incredibly awesome that is.
Hey, Brian! Hell, yeah it looks cool. This whole arc, man. The artwork, the composition. Brilliant.
Sweet baby jebus this has been a roller coaster, and I have loved every minute.

The intent with the braille is to read: I will be your shield
I used an online translator for that and I worried it might not be an accurate read. I will look into getting the proper braille and updating it.

JUST as I was wondering whether the whole ‘Charlie becomes a wizard’ thing was an elaborate mislead…
Good catch on Charlie’s part. The Doubt had a pattern, and he saw it.
ooo, love the shield effect! Braille arcane sigils are a new one on me, but very nicely done 😀
In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night
No Evil Shall Escape His uh…
…
Way to go Charlie.

Classic Alan Moore story!
Likewise. I wonder how that shield SOUNDS.
Being a man of taste I suspect Charlie has made it sound like a classic ‘VWOOM’
Charlie had a memorable birthday, huh?
You may be a cool, but you will never be Blind Mage Holding a Braille Spellbook casting a shield with Braille sigils cool.

I’m not sure why, but with Charlies look I get a The Secret World Like Feeling..kinda like it.
Great victory, but I have to say, I wanted to see what the thing looked like inside the crystal.
Cool as Dr. Strange!
if passive charisma checks were a thing Charlie just passed one that’s how badass he looks
