I like to think that while a spell is the same statwise for simplicity, you can mix things up how you want to make things look/act like you want them to thematically.
Also, please talk to your DM about Erec-Die Dysfunction or if your natural 1s last for more than 4 sessions.
Anyone who uses the term “social justice warrior” as a negative is exactly the kind of douchebag who sits on the completely obviously wrong side of an issue. So, what kind of douchebag are you? MRA? KKK? Or are you just a generalist douchebag who ignores the problems of the world because you can’t see them from Privilege Tower?
So, Mr. Chicken-cluck, you don’t like social justice warriors? What exactly do you object to? Being social—a functional and positive contributor to society? Or justice? Or fighting (nonviolently, as far as possible) for what is right?
Invert those words, and what have you got? An asocial injustice troll. Which side would you rather be on?
Well, at least she can crack jokes after getting brutally 1-shotted (or would it be 3-shorted) right from the start. I’m wondering if this’ll just be an obscene wipe outright, or if there’ll be something to come along & keep the party from becoming “that half dwarf & a bard”
You should not be sorry; that’s actually a great line.
I’d come up with some witty banter to meet it, but for some reason I can’t stand up and say something funny to all of you. I have to figure out with someone what’s behind these performance issues…
I fully believe that we’re heading for a tpk, which is terrible for Sam because he’s probably not going to feel too good about that, but still entertaining.
Damn, the storytelling in this Arc is so good!
I love the mesh between the table-top game rules, and the Illustrated world of Karthun itself. I feel like I’m really there, in that room, watching their game. Not to say D20 Monkey hasn’t done this sort of thing before, it’s just particularly awesome this time around.
The PHB has scorching ray as a 2nd lvl evocation that allows you to cast 3 rays at 1+ targets as a 2nd lvl spell dealing 2d6 fire dmg on successful ranged spell attack roll which is made for each ray. and when cast as a 3rd+ lvl spell, the #of rays increased for each slot lvl above 2nd. (PHB, pg 273)
HOVER-TEXT: Yep. The spell is pretty much Scorching Ray, just in case someone wants to cry foul.
Hey, there’s no reason for people to complain.

epilogue punchline for the win.
Is everyone else a higher level than Jeanie?
No shit, Scorching Ray shouldn’t be able to hit three times until level 11! Are casters really that OP in Karthun?
Performance dies-function?
someone might need a new set soon.
Poor Trevor is suffering Wheaton Syndrome…
Someone’s been waching Titansgrave, eh? ^^
he used up all his good rolling playing roll for it last week
I’ve watched Tabletop and Titansgrave. The dice rarely love him at all.
wheaton syndrome? is that when you finally recover some fame and goodwill, only to blow it by being a social justice warrior douche bag?

Haha, I was thinking the same thing! She’s holding up pretty well after getting killed so fast.
So the dm is rolling high while everyone else isn’t? something sounds fishy
Happens, shit does.
Truth!
Time to pass Trevor a bottle of die-agra.
affets* one in 1d4 mages.
effect is the noun, the kind used in movies, affect is the verb, the consequences of actions.
So, Karthun Aeromancers can dip into fire spells? Interesting. And cool.

He seems the type that even if it was a TPK they would only end up captured and wounded.
One’s already dead, the time of fudging into unconsciousness has passed.
We are talking about a cult here. They might have access to spells the PCs normally wouldn’t.

Three rays at 2nd level? Scorching Ray gives 3 rays finally at 11th (in Pathfinder anyways.)
Probly based off 5e D&D.
Spell Level 2 generally requires Casting Class Level 3 or 4. At character level 2 most characters will only have Level 1 spells if any.
True wasn’t looking at spellcasting tables for the individuals classes, just quoting the description of the spell from chapter ten
Correction: Spell descriptions are in Ch. 11
So in 5e, you “only” need to be level 7 to do that. Still really unexpected for a level 2 mage.
