Harsh Reflections: Part Twenty
I try to translate the tempo and cadence of a tabletop session into these arcs. There is a point in most sessions where the exposition and set-up ends and everyone kind of chimes in with an “alright, let’s do this”. Hopefully that works here.
If you are wondering why Jeanie and Trevor haven’t said much in character yet, don’t worry, they will. As far as encounters go, this was kind of a Brett and Charlie moment.
Also, thank you all so much for your patience. As most of you know, I am working as a full-time freelance artist and I spin a few deadlines at all times. I needed to wrap a few things up earlier this week. d20Monkey pays some of the bills through my store and my Patreon page but it is not my sole source of income. I’ll always do my best to make this comic my priority but sometimes I’ll have to step in with a momentary delay. It feels like I have been off my game schedule wise since my knee was ruined but I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I’m getting my groove back.
HOVER-TEXT: Iron Britches sounds like an awesome item from WoW.
I swear I keep randomly checking the comic AS you post it. So excited!!
No worries, sir. As much as it pains me to admit it, real world concerns (food, housing, health, family) come before the distractions we all love so much. Take care of yourself first.
First time I read the last panel, I thought he said they’re going to Narwhal. Now I can’t stop picturing a culture that worships a unicorn/whale hybrid divinity.
You are not alone there and thank you for that image.
Narhal…that reminds me of somthing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX9IRXIF5Ak
That is ALSO what I immediately thought!
NARHAL, NAAARHAAAL
Diplomacy in Karthun,
Assassinating cult dudes,
For the Iron Kingdom!
I’m curious if we’re ever going to see one of Sam’s campaigns bomb because it’s just bad and not because of someone being a dick. *Evil Sam excluded*
Hot damn! Now we’re talking- broken families, the fate of the universe in the balance, heck, someone call River Song. I bet she’d want to join in!
Alright! we have a quest! time for a transition jump!
The Star Wars wipe!
Iron Britches is the name of my crossdressing country western Iron Maiden cover band.
Actually their is an item in AD&D called the Iron Britches, I ran into them in a magic items book at one point. They make the skin of the wearer line iron adding to their AC
I mean like iron not line iron, sorry about that…
Iron Britches would make a great next addition to Baldur’s Gate! Golden Pantaloons, Silver Pantaloons & Bronze Pantalettes now Iron Britches! 😉
So, ever since the comment about Jeda looking like Varric at the start of the Karthun arc, I’ve been imagining that he sounds just like him. I have a different voice for Brett, but Jeda sounds like Varric.
And yet, none of that exposition/justification did *anything* to address Brett/Jeda’s issues…just reinforces them, since yet again powerful people refuse to act without plausible deniability. “We want this done but if the attempt fails…it wasn’t us!”
Details like this make this comic awesome.
