For some reason, I expected something super sinister like Brett’s mom unconscious and battered body being dropped on him. I’m really glad it’s just a big monster ambush.
I see people thinking it’s Clive, and I’m here thinking he was always more of a “put the right word in the right ear to get results†kind of jerk. My money is on Dove getting a whole lot more than he bargained for.
I’m pretty sure it was Lee the one that recruited Pigeon. So if it is him. There’s more to Lee’s shenanigans We haven’t found out.
Honestly I’m still wondering who grabbed Clive after his banishment, because they’re probably the root (or closer to the root) of everything. Possibly backing things on both a magical (Clive & these shenanigans) and mundane (Lee & everything Game Haus related) level, to try to control all variables.
Something about the eye-glow trails/after images in the first panel just reminds me of Sky-Rat, and it’s a thought that won’t leave until it’s proven/disproven.
This gives me “The Death of Superman” vibes.
Well, damn. Santa’s never been known for ninja-like reflexes. Hopefully his healing’s gotten better, because that looks like it hurt quite a lot.

If I recall my d20Monkey lore, Klaus tore out his heart and the Mantle of Santa healed him of that fast enough to finish the fight. So this might just be a love tap.

Eh, that was his initial empowerment with the mantle. Probably has a more powerful effect at that moment. He’s probably tough enough to shrug this off and keep fighting, but not quite walking off impalement level tough. But damn, that was a hell of a surprise round. Hopefully he gets some backup quick.

Why do feel like this comic is leading to a actual dungeon crawl? Oh yeah, two characters already have magic powers and now are fighting actual monsters.

Hoping the Mantle comes with some durability bonus. That’s an automobile he just smashed in with his body. That said, after being hammered by iron bludgeons the size of refrigerators, he still seems to have all his teeth.
