Naah. It’s a perfectly cromulant attack, and would have pulped lesser beings. He’s just not used to dealing with targets that have response actions. More like CP 10 meets Level 20.
Andrew’s comment is correct though. Die rolls have nothing to do with how weak or strong in general a person/character is but is in relation to the strength of that specific attack. So in this situation the one rolled a Nat 1 and critically failed while our new Santa 😉 rolled a Nat 20 which is a critical success.
Geezus, I didn’t realize we were so close to the end. I knew it was coming but for the last five weeks I’ve been thinking we had six weeks left. My brain still thinks that. Because it is dumb brain.
The question remains of the BBEG, and I got to thinking earlier:
Remember back in the D&D tournament? I forget it’s name exactly, Dungeon Runners maybe, but it came down to Dallas and Dove at the end. Dove tried to win (or at least prevent Dallas from winning) by pledging himself as a servant to the “final boss.”
Given how close we are to the end—and remember, Mr. Narrative Wielder was the one running that event—I’ve gotta wonder if there’s any sort of foreshadowing between that and the mystery BBEG around the corner here…
Handys for Christmas!!!
There better be a stop hitting yourself joke in the next comic.
Eye remember seeing a weapon not unlike this one in the Innsmouth game!!
Well, he’ll never play drums in his ogre band again…
Clearly you’ve never seen Def Ogre Leppard play…
Somebody just needs one glove for Christmas this year
. . . Okay, someone get Michael Jackson on the Ouija board.
Wow… Just Wow…
Let’s give ’em a hand, ladies and gentlemen.
Nat 1, meet Nat 20

So you could say the mantle is…*handy*??? 😀
He got the arm and hammer!
A+
“I Fought Santa And All I Got Was This Lousy Г-shirt”
(for those wondering, that’s a Cyrillic hard-g sound)
Would you call that a…disarming attack?
Look for the new surreal Japanese video game ‘Can’t Arm, De-maced’.
so, 8 pages left? BBEG and epilogue 5:3?

“No second chances. I’m that sort of a man.”
— The 10th Doctor
Hmm, actually this is something of a reversal of how that fight went. Interesting… 🙂
This is getting epic!
That’s a handy trick! 🙂
Look at Brett’s stance in that last panel. This was completely effortless for him! He could have taken a phone call while he was doing this.
Super Santa 2 level at least.
Bow down!
Bow down!
Before the power of Santa,
Or be crushed!
Be crushed!
Byyyyyyyyyyy…. his jolly boots of doom!
I absolutely love the effect of the white snow/blizzard and shadow effect.
There is no need to show the blood and gore in color and it really adds to it overall.
*badass guitar riff*
“Aah-ah-aaaaah-AH!!!”
“Come to the land of the ice and snow…”

Nahh. Dove is and always will be a *nobody*. He’s got nothing to offer the Final Boss.
Well, I guess someone read “Farewell to arms”
He was given the chance to choose. He chose…….poorly.
