Note to self: when your friend breaks his leg, give him something practical, like something he can use to sever the damaged limb and cauterize the wound in one simple step.
Or, you know, support him while he walks until he accidentally turns on the darn thing and sears a hole in the pavement… or sets the house on fire… yeah.
Not just a cane, and not just a cane lightsaber, but a cane lightsaber that automatically creates dramatic lightning around you. It lights up, and the room descends into shadow. Awesome power stunt for it.
I hope it has a more practical grip as a cane. That d20 topper is awesome, but not great for supporting weight comfortably. I’m choosing to believe that it changes based on what he’s using it for, because Santa.
Check out african fighting sticks, Knobkerrie. Especially ones that have been made in modern times with more of a walking stick function in mind rather then being hurled at people. A very common topper on them is a smooth sphere, but sometimes they get cut into a geodesic pattern. There are two good examples of what I am thinking of out there, the first is the Cold Steel replica, the second is that one of the Madagascar sequels has some sort of Lion chieftain who uses a Knobkerrie with a geodesic top as a sceptre.
granted most of those that I have seen have been cut so the faces are alternating hexagons and pentagons. I have yet to see any with triangle cuts like a D20. Which could definitely be a bit more uncomfortable to press weight onto, but of course the D20 could always be a soft material around a solid core.
A walking stick is different from a cane or a scepter. A walking stick is generally used to help with balance, not to reduce weight on joints. I use a cane fairly frequently, and while having a sphere or geodesic pattern could work, it would have to be big enough to distribute weight across the hand or it wouldn’t work very well. The one in today’s comic doesn’t look nearly big enough, which is why I made the comment.
I actually use the cold steel model and it supports me quite well though you have to get accustomed to the polyhedral top but it’s no different than a standard crook cane…..
HOVER-TEXT: No good can come of this…
Lies, only good can come of this.
I think he just defined another Holyday. THis is not Xmas. It is GeekMas.
Yeah, I can’t see that going wrong in any way. Still…I kinda want one.

I feel like you’re trying to point out a downside, but I’m just not seeing it.
😀 So true
Goddamn do I love Brett!
Initially, slight disappointment. Shortly, bemusement that their friend still has a sense of humor. And- HOLY CRAP IT’S A LIGHTSABER!

This can only lead to ruin. Hilarious, wacky, fun ruin, but ruin nonetheless.
My god, those faces XD My sides are taking a weeks vacation on mars.

I think the d20 is on the end of the handle, wich would be about 90° from the actual cane…
Looks like a straight cane to me.
Thats clearly just the angle of the shot
I want one
Please let this be for sale in your Store at some time. If not is there a kick-starter for one? I don’t care if I need a cane or not I must have this!

They both die within five minutes.
I just love the looks for pure joy on their faces!
Oh man, me too! I love seeing Sam and Amy so happy.
Actually, Peter Mayhew, the actor who played Chewbacca, walks around with a lightsaber cane.

Am I the only one who sees geek-boners all around?
Oh…you’re talking about the comic…yeah…not that I had one or anything.
I was thinking more like simultaneous nerdgasms in the last panel.
they make those; Peter Mayhew uses one …

LDM over at TCSS.Com makes Saber canes for deserving folks. They are amazing.
…..that lucky bastard! 🙂
Days away from Christmas? So Solstice then/ High-Summer (or Winter for you fellas)
…there needs to be a kickstarter for these. I’d totally buy one.
I’m afraid that what they do with the cane is going to get them permanently moved from the good list to the naughty list.
