And He Blessed Us from the Hip
Chapter: Season Four
And now you know how Charlie’s priest (A Minstrel of the Goddess of Song) cast spells. I love music and this one way I get to tap into that a bit in the comic.

Rest of lyrics, please?
We’ve done that in our games before, but usually stick to one or two lines of the song. The player with a gnome bard tries to have appropriate music play—well, inappropriate really, but what do you expect from a gnome—but I have a much larger and diverse music collection on my laptop. So I end up playing the music needed.
Seconded. You can’t go teasing us with the alt text like that and not deliver!
That kicks ass! I can hardly wait for his rendition of Sir MixaLot’s “Baby Got Back”
Next up: Too Legit to Crit!
is that speaking auto roller he uses a real thing?
Not that I am aware of but it really should be.
In college, I used to play with a guy who was nearly blind– He was legally blind but could see light and shapes and things if they were super, super close to his eye.
He had an electronic roller that had the various die values that would light up a red digital number when pushed numerous times to get the final result.
I’m sure he’d have graduated to a new device by now and if it doesn’t have an audio output as well, I’d be surprised.
yea TSR made somthing like that in the 70’s
i have an autoroller app on my phone strikes me just now that it could be easy to ad a speech option to it
It’d be easy enough to code something like this into existence. The hardware might be a bit of a bitch, though… It’d either have lots of buttons or a dial for selecting which die, I’m guessing?
if you’re a dab hand with java you could just do it as a smartphone app.
It’s a shame this song isn’t featured on the DnDPR podcast…..
It’s a shame there hasn’t been a new one in so long.
I’m more than willing to help you record this parody.
I’m just putting that out there.
I just choked on my lunch from laughing. You monster.
Very awesome. And done well enough that the song it altered was obvious. Bravo. Also good too see its not just me who mangles songs like some dorta dnd obsessed Wierd Al (or produce if im bored at work) Ahem “Is this real life, is it just fantasy? Playing Dungeons and Dragons to escape from reality. Open your book take out your dice and seeeee,â€
And so on including “The Dungeon Master has a devil put aside for meeee…†And “You die now. No i get a saving throw! Saving throw!†But anyways Nice comic, nice song Charlie
Ha, your song sounds pretty awesome as well!
I fully expect a ‘Devil Went Down to Georgia’ rendition against the boss. XD
You gotta work in Eye Of The Tiger, and some more DIO!
Oh man, the sheer win!
Also, nice to finally see how Charlie rolls his dice. I’m guessing the device has different settings for d4, d6, d10 and the like?
Is Charlie’s character sheet in braille? Nice.
Well, a regular one wouldn’t be much use to him. I can’t help but wonder how he writes on it though; I don’t know much about how blind dudes cope with that sort of thing.
There’s no audio, but here’s an electronic die that can roll everything up to a d100 (I bet that if you ask the people at the Hackaday forums, they would come up with an audio solution in a minute).
I love the melting stone-look of Mel’s armour, by the way.
my first serious character was a bard. he was unique in not having any ranks in perform for a while, till the DM made me.
so he wound up with ranks in perform(spoken word)(mime)(interpetive dance)(steam calliope) and (church organ)
to be fair the DM rolled with it after a verrrrrry long and level ‘are you kidding?’ look.
bardic performance magic is temporary but powerful. you find someone who can erect a barrier solid as stone, thin as paper, transparent as glass, and permeable to sound as a quick action and you’ll have met my bard.
the epic finale where he scaled the interior of the church and rallied the entire city with a nat 20 performance check was awesome too.
Did you actually write up a game system? because this sounds like a game system I would like to play
I REALLY need to make up a list of the most awesome Charlie quotes. Seriously, the guy gets the BEST lines in this comic! Next time I post a response I’ll have the top five most epic “Charlie-isms.” But for now I will simply say I love this comic and this arc in particular has been really fun to read.
