Actually it’s “It’s over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!â€.. but you know, if you’re going to correct the quote don’t miss quote. It’s Nappa who asks “Vegeta, what does the scouter say about his power level?†Vegeta doesn’t say power in his line.
I do wonder how the king of seasons will fair against the millions of children who will attack him for beating Santa. Doesn’t matter who you are, or how ‘official.’
You do not beat up a children icon like santa.
I don’t suppose this beating will be all the punishment Brett will get is it? KoS might be the kind of guy to deal out a punishment and buy you a beer afterwards for all we know.
When I was a boy, my father took me to see the Rankin and Bass Lord of the Rings cartoon at the theater. During the battle at Helm’s Deep, when the King, Theoden, orders the charge, and the bugles blare to announce the king will ride, the orcs outside fall back a bit. I remember that my 8 year old self turned to my father and asked him why the orcs fell back at the bugles, and my father responded that “He didn’t become king by accident, he is a great warrior.” This cartoon made me remember all of that instantly, and I felt sorry for Brett, for not being with us at that theater that day, or he too would have known that the King of Seasons did not become king by accident.
King Theoden is, by far, one of the most awesome characters in the Lord of the Rings story, and despite my nitpicks about parts of Jackson’s adaptation, Bernard Hill was a brilliant choice to protray the King of Rohan. I still get chills everytime I hear his rallying speech before the charge of the Rohirrim at Pelennor Fields. It’s my favorite scene in Return of the King, both the book and movie.
Not that I don’t enjoy the story arc, and you’ve more than likely addressed this on multiple occasions, but why are we doing a Christmas Arc in March? I mean maybe it culminates in the whole Christmas in July thing but I was just a little confused.
That or I have just traveled through time. That’d be cool too.
Hey DaggrMouse! No worries on the confusion. Short version: I wrecked my knee in November when the arc began and it sidelined me for a while. I didn’t want to skip this arc so I said screw it and dove right back in as soon as I was able to sit and draw again.
Consider Brett’s concepts of how he thinks the world should work and how unfair it is (read the archives if you need a refresher).
Eventually someone was going to layeth the smacketh-down on Brett. He got a little power and it went to his head, so that’s where the beating has to begin.

THANK YOU! I dont know how many times Ive wondered if Goku ever said ‘Im just saiyancc’
Oh shit! Note to self: Do not mouth-off to the King of Seasons.
Damn right.
His power level must be 9000!
His power is OVER 9000! If you are going to do the joke dont miss quote
Hi, just checking to tell you that if you are going to correct the joke, dont miss spell… oops 😉

For what it’s worth, this thread has cracked me up.

“Awww, snap!”
(That’s what Brett’s jaw said. I’m here all week. Don’t forget to tip your waitress. Wakka, wakka.)

Your father sounds more kickass than mine. My dad would’ve said something like “Cause their pussies or something, idunno.”
Hahaha, thanks. My Dad was pretty awesome, if I can be half the Dad he was, my kid will have been lucky!
Smart dad. 😉

“Forth! Down fear of darkness! Arise! Arise, Riders of Théoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered! A sword day… a red day… and the sun rises! Ride now… Ride now… Ride! Ride for ruin and the world’s ending! Death!”
I only have a smidgeon of Scandanavian blood in me (so far as I know), but that resonates like no other rallycry I’ve ever read or heard.
OH SHIT! He hit Brett so hard, he broke the panel!
…suddenly I’m afraid to call for a mistrial.
HA! Suck It!
A most deserved backhand.
I imagine a large percentage of the d20Monkey audience said “hell yeah, about time” with this strip.

I’ll bet Brett was that kid who refused to shut up after he’d been hauled to the principle’s office for swearing at the teacher.

Brett, welcome to your attitude adjustment.
… oh come ON, Brett! You should know better than to mouth off to what I’m assuming is basically a GOD by now! Hasn’t roleplaying taught you ANYTHING??
Yeah, It’s taught him gods can be beaten.
