Chapter: Season Eight
Updates are a little spotty while I manage some freelance work but I am working and the story continues!
I made a few cosmetic tweaks to the site too. I hope you dig them.
Also also! The d20monkey Teepublic store is running a 30% off sale! NOW IS THE TIME TO GRAB THAT SWEET, SWEET MERCH!
popcorn initiative?
Was that developed by Reddenbacher industries?
Very interesting initiative method, is that something you personally do?
Well, it may have gotten me to include it in the system I’m developing… let’s see how this fight plays out.
oh this is really good *gets some popcorn*
oooohhh, top secret note? I must know what it says!
Oooh…
My guess is remote-hacking his setup while the others draw his attention.
Hmmm, intriguing…
*puts on highly-reflective glasses and does Gendo Ikari style ‘finger-tent’ while observing the goings-on with interest…*
Think this is the first time I heard of popcorn initiative, so I want to thank you for that. Though, it has me thinking how to make it work with games like Shadowrun where you get multiple passes. Thinking multiple turns like the boss fight, but it might depend on the way the table plays as I have read some epic mechanics of it with having players act in a certain order to get advantageous results.
I’d think you’d do it just like SR 3 did, everybody gets at least one turn in before seconds. Then all seconds before thirds and so on.
Or you could just keep track of how many passes you have used. If you still have a pass left, you can pick yourself. If you have a big ol’ one-two punch in your arsenal, that’s awesome. If not, you might be better off passing the love around. Otherwise, it’s just like anyone else using initiative.
If you have a bunch of people with different numbers of passes, you could come up with a system where everyone holds up fingers indicating how many passes they have left. You could even come up with a code like “if I’m using my left hand, pick me NOW, if I’m using my right hand I’d rather wait”.
