Haha ew, gross head. <3
Lest see how this Time Malipulator works.
Lock and Record Current Timestream keeps me thinking he can rewind time to a pre-stated moment, meaning he can technically plan for a scenario over and over so long as he is not taken by surprise. It’s basically a video game save point if my assessment is correct.
Definitely a dangerous power if that is the case.
And we all know that video game save points make the games winnable for anyone, eventually. A supervillian with that power?
Forgive the meta-gaming, but there would have to be a limit to it, to make it a playable game mechanic. Something like a spin on the 5e advantage rule. Otherwise it’s just “we replay the fight a few times until you lose.” Which is boring.
There’s a limit. The gizmo he’s using has finite power. Plus I think it has a physical toll on him.
The big issue is how to properly model it in-game. You don’t wanna repeat the big boss battle, after all.
Simplest method is to give him rerolls. This means that the current timeline is the ‘final’ one, the one where things work out best for him. Failure? Not in THIS timeline!
Hollywood is gonna be in trouble if he tips his hand at the wrong time, though. “Oh, and have some guys fry the infiltrator with the ‘stache. Capturing him didn’t work the last three times.”
Oh, boy. Shit’s about to get real.
On an unrelated note, I finally read the State of the Monkey, and… Brian, I just want to say I’m incredibly amazed by (and proud of) everything you’ve done this year. I’ve struggled a lot with anxiety and depression in the past, so I understand how difficult overcoming those issues can be. Here’s to a strong 2018.
One last question: for supporting your work monthly, do you have any preference between Patreon and PayPal? (I was worried about the service fees Patreon was planning to implement, but apparently they’ve recognized the mistake and are no longer going through with that plan anymore.)
